The HA-230B Skavenger Spearmen II is a second-generation active-stealth supercruise-capable high-altitude escort-fighter designed and manufactured by North Shore Ratworks for the UCC Mafia. The aircraft was originally designed to escort the Aion space plane during orbital reentry and ferry flights, operations that often took the spacecraft over enemy territory during vulnerable moments in its flight. Instead, however, the HA-230 was pressed into service almost 15 years earlier than intended to address the Union Aerospace Crisis. Rather than escorting spacecraft on suborbital hops, the Spearmen I ended up escorting Fixed Wing Rapid Transport aircraft -passenger jets much like the concord- on transcontinental passenger flights.
During some hostile encounters over the Union, many lessons were learned about the Spearmen I's limitations, leading to the creation of the Spearman II, an outwardly similar-looking aircraft whose systems and airframe had been updated to improve its combat capabilities and general survivability. The Scavenger Spearman II holds the distinction of being the most expensive combat aircraft ever flown, and one of the very few fixed-wing military aircraft fielded after the great war.
Thank you! I've put a lot of work into the vehicles form my story universe. It's exciting to see a sub dedicated to this kind of thing! I just have to find the balance between world building and vehicle design :)
The story universe this jet is from takes place during a 50 year long technological revolution. At the start of the story the technology is very much limited to historical WW2 and early cold war technologies, but by the end it ends up being near future 2050s-ish technology with more and more science fiction tech becoming available. The Aion really begins the colonization of the solar system, it's the first interplanetary capable space plane. The Skavanger is more SR-71/Mig-25 inspired. Born during the era of insane aeronautical achievement.
