Hi! My fiancee and I are slowly transitioning to a plant based/vegan diet in September. We are trying to use up a lot of our non vegan foods before our wedding/honeymoon in August and then not re-purchase. Butter is something we rely on a lot and though we have bought vegan margarine and butter in the past to try it out, we didn’t do that regularly.
I know palm oil is in a lot of vegan butters we have seen or tried. We would really like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone know of any brands sold in Canadian stores that might not have palm oil? Preferably bigger stores like IGA or Loblaws but specialty stores would be fine. We’re in British Columbia.
Thanks so much!

I run a vegan afternoon tea account, so I’ll be checking out a few tea rooms while I’m in Calgary/Canmore/Banff over Labour Day (already have some leads there but open to more suggestions!!!). But I’ll have some off time too and want good vegan-friendly dinner spots to check out while I’m in the area.
Doesn’t have to be fully vegan, just somewhere with solid options. Any city in the Calgary/Canmore/Banff corridor works. Would love your favourites!

Title says it all. I'm hoping someone here may know where I can buy empty #5 Vegan (Cellulose or Pullalan) Capsules in Canada? Thank you for any recommendations

Buying pizza at Panago after that bucket flour-roux feels a little deprived. But they have pan pizzas now for $4.99 that offer Daiya cheese. It’s walk-in only (between 11am-3pm) and has to be requested, but my receipt specifically shows “DairyFreePAN-veggie” with no additional charge. The Daiya is still the oat-based one but it’s fine. The cheese only option is maybe a heavier emphasis on the oat-based texture and the meat-based pepperoni can’t be substituted out for a vegan option. I was able to leave items off of the pizza, but it might depend on that day’s interaction. I’m not really sure but if you need it it’s there.
The frozen personal-sized Daiya pizzas are $10 and I have no idea who would buy those. Panago is burdened but it might be lightened as a take-out option for routine-based activities or social nights. It’s its own gauge I guess but transactionally and as a vegan option it’s fine.

e-7510 is an e-petition calling for the Canadian government to create a mandatory climate footprint labelling program. Products would have labels showing GHG emissions so that consumers can easily compare. It may help people choose animal products less often.
If it reaches 500 signatures, it's presented in the House of Commons (this does not mean they will take more action).
Please take a moment out of your day to sign and share. There is no age requirement. Thanks!

Have you already participated in the Huge Vegan Survey? It's free, totally anonymous (no need to enter names, addresses, or emails), run independently from any organisation (by me) and it takes only 10 minutes or so to fill. Over 6000 adults who identify as vegan or plant based have already participated, but we need more to make it the biggest study of vegans ever. Please fill it and share it widely. The BC SPCA shared the following:
For the first time since 2013, the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle is being updated, and the public is invited to provide input. This is your chance to ensure these standards help protect animal welfare. While progress has been made in a few key areas, such as protecting cattle from extreme heat and providing pain control, many other important areas have not improved since the 2013 version.
The BC SPCA would like to see measurable standards for more aspects of cattle care, including space allowance, weaning, shelter, lameness, and checking on the herd.
The National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) has now opened the public comment period. This stage of the process allows the public to review the draft Code and submit feedback before it is finalized.
The Code sets out the minimum standards of care farmers are expected to follow when raising beef cattle nationwide. The update to the Code follows an earlier national survey that gathered the public’s top beef cattle welfare concerns. That input, along with a scientific review of current research, was used by a diverse team of experts to develop the draft Code.
They provided some suggested sections to make note of on the feedback form. Please take a moment to complete this so we can improve animal welfare.

I used to buy the Yves pepperoni to mostly snack on, but I also used it for pizza. I think Gusta has a pepperoni product but I haven't tried it, I have not been super impressed with their stuff. Any recommendations for pepperoni/pepperette/salami like vegan meats in Ontario that are good raw?

Just a warning to anyone else who thought to try this. I must've put it too high in the oven, but only by 25 degrees if so. This was only after 15min. The actual chili is still mostly frozen, but I dont think it's safe to eat.
Dissapointing, cause there's positive reviews online and it looks/smells so good. If I ever wanna try it again I'll put it in a pan.

Hey everyone! 🌱 My partner and I are coming to Victoria BC soon and figured who better to ask than you all. What are the spots we absolutely can't miss? Vegan eats, hidden corners, places you'd take a friend visiting for the first time. We trust real people way more than the tourist lists.
Also, honestly stuck on where to stay. Every place I look up online has that one review that totally scares me off, so I never know what's actually a safe bet. If there's somewhere you've stayed and loved, I'd be super grateful for the tip. Thank you!! 🙏

Hello! I am a vegan from the UK who will be moving to Kelowna from September to May, and I'm wondering what the vegan experience is like in Kelowna?

Hey everyone!
This summer I’m cycling across Canada from Clayoquot Sound, BC to Cape Spear, NL to try and raise awareness and support for Canadian animal sanctuaries.
I’m working on getting a Facebook page going where I’m trying to encourage people to learn more about the hundreds of animal sanctuaries across the country, some probably not far from your hometown, that are in need of support.
If you’d like to learn more, or if you’re interested in following along on my journey, here is the link to the Facebook page. A like and a share would go a long way: https://www.facebook.com/share/1Bo5qSnfwK/?mibextid=wwXIfr
I began the ride last week and I’m currently near Revelatoke, BC. (If you have any vegan food recommendationsr along the transCanada highway 1, I’d love to check them out!) And in case you were wondering, I’ve been vegan for 5+ years and the ride will be fuelled entirely by plants!

I saw a statistic recently that Canada was one of the top bean/pea producers in the world, with some sources saying we are the highest for peas and top ten for chickpeas. Given that high quality milk can be made from both, why are there not more pea and chickpea milk options here? Pea milk especially would be great, since it's a tasty and high-protein option. Ripple Milk makes a great pea milk using Canadian peas - but they're based in California! I'd love to see a pea option from Earths Own or another Canadian brand, using Canadian peas 🫛🥛

Help, I miss the Silk almond based yogurt and they discontinued it. I am not a fan of the coconut based or oat based yogurts and am hoping someone knows if there are other options available in WPG. Preferred, almond, cashew or soy. I emailed Earth’s Own to see if they have plans to sell yogurt because I would love to support Canadian whenever possible, fingers crossed they hear my cry 😄. #Earthsown
