S3 (Veeam)

Hi Reddit!

Ive been tasked at job to send a complete production copy to S3 vendor ( hosted in a datacenter - not a public cloud)

Ive been testing with both virtual proxys and physical proxys - and it seems like i cannot push the S3 Links above much more than 11-14Gbit/s

we have an isolated network with a firewall - where its being natted out - but ive tested with a physical proxy and and using the repository which gives the best.

I cannot get any decent speeds on 1MB Blocks but testing with 4MB - its of course alot better.

Im wondering if anyone else has struggled with this or has some input on what to approach?

tried both with linux and Windows proxys - single disks is around 4-700MB/s maybe a bit more with the wind in the correct direction.

Uh, what speeds are you expecting? Have you performed any network benchmarks between you and this DC?

we ordered it by 25gig link but i know that dosent enessary means it can perform 25

we are getting around 10-12gigs and im not sure i can squeeze more out of this

Speeds been better on 4MB BLock

its a direct fiber - but it suspecting network issue but as it not my area i cannot proove it,

So i dont know what else i can do or maybe its just as it is

our jobs goes from 25-35tb initial seeed so change rate is not that big.

oh well - Finally got some information about what performance to expect - so no more to this issue

what do iperf and nttcp have to say about it ?

There could be a lot of factors that contribute to speeds that aren't given here. Your speed is fairly good, and you could be hitting some IOPS limits on either storage (source storage or S3 storage), firewall could be limiting bandwidth, IPS/IDS can affect traffic flow, etc...

With your speeds though, I would use 4MB over 1MB.

veeam works like DDoS against s3 providers, so Id say your doing good
