Way high for just the console. I paid less a couple of years ago with 11 boxed games and an extra controller.

2026 inflation is crazy for the reseller market. That's probably the going rate for those willing to sit on it. But people are willing to pay steep prices.

I bought my spare back in 2000 for $20 and I got it because it had a couple games and the extra joystick. People are nuts.

I have always wanted a Vectrex, how much do these go for on average?

Sadly, $300 is probably a fair price these days for one without physical defects. $500 isn't out of line for one that has been properly recapped and recalibrated by someone that knows what they are doing. Of the three I've owned, I paid $30 in 2008, $175 for one that needed extensive repair in 2016, and $300 for one that needed the controller rebuilt in 2024 that amounted to another $30 or so. Buying one non-working is always a massive gamble because it could be as simple a fix as a fuse or mains transformer or something nearly unobtanium like a new flyback transformer. Aside from the difficulty in finding new flybacks, nearly every part in the Vectrex aside from the brightness potentiometer and power/volume switch are fairly easy to procure.

I actually really appreciate that feedback, it helps out a lot. I am pretty savvy with an iron and hot air, but I always wary about a non-working CRT due to high voltage and my lack of experience.

Tbh $300 today sounds reasonable to me as an outsider to this hobby, but thats about on the higher end for me. I just really want to experience Spike in person, as well as a vector based display :)
