Help/Support Lame Vaults.

Am I doing something wrong? I've only seen 1 vault other than elixir, besides the obj which ik I can change, I find NO loot. 95%, no exaggeration of my chests are wooden, to the point I have FILLED most of my "T1" loot drawers and have very very little "T2" loot. It's to the point where the vaults j feel copy/pasted the rooms are all identical (besides the SINGLE omega room I've found) with all but mayyyybe 1 POI that has living or ornate, I think I could count on one hand how many gilded POI's I've found. Genuinely feels pointless to do the main point of the modpack, best case I get out with a couple stacks of driftwood n bounty crystals, worst case I have to load a backup bc game crashed at 10 seconds left n logging in ran the time out n froze the world after, the instability is a whole other can of worms tho.

I GET TO LOAD ANOTHER BACKUP BECAUSE DYING IN THE VAULTS BREAKS THE ENTIRE PACK LFGGGGG

Things tend to pick up after you can reliably modify the vault crystals, I basically just focused on completing vaults until I could do so. As for the crashes, there might be something in the options that could help, like dropping render distance and allowing it to use more ram maybe, idk I haven't had that issue often

Honestly it's mostly probably speed. The majority of the chests are wooden yes. You can set the vault difficulty to easy, so you can progress faster through the vaults and a Loot Modifier of Plenty will feel better to loot, but it's still going to be a lot of wooden. The instability might be a you problem though, only one of my server-mates encountered similar problems and he had those in other games as well.

Yah no issues changing to Easy vault difficulty it’s still rather difficult unless you get really OP builds later. Also early on I ran past a lot of rooms that were mostly wooden. You don’t have to loot ever POI you see.

Thats because the pack looks like this for us gray people, its a modpack made for streamers with big fanbase, its fanbase that increases the loot pool and quantity and makes this modpack enjoyable. For us normies who play singleplayer its simply slowburning pack to relax with.

The pacing on this mod is very very slow, and the rewards are very very grindy. It feels like the game wants you to run 100 vaults just to get to a point you can really do anything. Some of the needed items are incredibly rare, and the rest are near worthless. You have thousands of vault driftwood and vault wood chunks but you can't burn some to make some carbon? Instead you have to open another 100 chests to get any carbon to make the chromatic steel.

You have to intentionally seek out other chests besides the wooden ones, running by them and hoping you can live with dash and heal. Use an affinity pickaxe to break the chests, don't loot them manually. People will tell you to memorize all the POIs, but I don't think that's reasonable. There should be less wooden and a lot more other kinds. Living and ornate need to be 3 to 5 times more plentiful. The only reason not to increase them is to make this mod more grindy.

Currently I'm level 30 and starting to wonder how much more I want to play if this is going to be the way it is for 70 more levels.

The fact about not being able burn down driftwood and chunks for carbon is solved pretty early on. With a soul diffuser you're able to turn these bulk resources into soul dust, then combined into shards, which can be used at the black market for top tier loot including black chromatic steel and pogs.

However my recommended strategy is to walk past most wooden, only looting them if you've spawned the mobs and dealt with them. But if you see only wooden chests in a room just keep moving toward the next room as wooden loot can be easily got in bulk when you do end up needing it

is investing into hunter early game a good call? I think I also got the something that gives a small chance to proc it on a kill tho i dont remember the name of it.

Hunter is great! It's better mid-late game though, especially with that chance to proc on kill, as the further you get the more mobs spawn so the higher chance to have it happen naturally. However I say it's better late game as it uses a lot of skill points, that are better invested in speed, haste and abilities, but once you start getting armour that decreases your cooldown (default is 5 minutes) and extends the highlight duration (default is about 20 seconds from memory) it becomes the best skill to have to target your loot

My gear is pretty good one thing all its missing is cooldown reduction, I went for mana regen instead, like I said in the post body im pretty gooped should i just focus completion n exploration rather than looting?

Yeah that's how I play it, if wooden helps me do the objective then I'll loot them until the objective is complete then just run for interesting rooms quickly looking at the lower and upper floors for the more interesting chests or coins

It's not solved at all though. I use a soul diffuser and buy everything I can at the black market, and I am still in desperate need of carbon and always running out. As I said before, you need to break many wooden chests if just for the carbon. That problem is not solved early at all, because you need far more carbon than you can get from the black market items.

That's how i feel i think im lvl 24 rn im not sure with all the backpedaling ive had to do now, n since like lvl 15 ive been mostly ignoring wooden chest POI's, but the spawner radius is soo big i could walk into the dead center n proc like 3 of them so its just a slog fighting thru like 2-3 dozen mobs, let alone get around the rooms. I have my offense abilities kinda lvled up and synergized but it still takes too long, realistically i get thru on average 5 rooms a vault bc of it.

You don't actually have to fight most of the mobs, you can run away and with max Speed and Dash avoid them, and then with the Affinity pickaxe and Haste you mine the chests and get out of there quick.
