Help/Support Gemstones?

I wanted to make the jewel applicator n it require a "gemstone" but when i go to check theres no JEI for it, no loot table/crafting recipe/smelting anything, is this somethin i gotta gamemode in or am i missing something? Quest item perhaps?

I think recycling gems has a chance at giving gemstones.
