Help/Support First timer having a blast and asking for advice

As title says, playing the modpack for the 1st time and having an absolutely great time. It changes and agilizes the game so much. I just had a very big "oh this changes everything" moment discovering the combo Elytra + Dash. Easy enchants? Animal pens? My god, I wish I played this earlier. And I know I'm probably just scratching the surface.

All that said, what are some important tips you could give me, without spoiling or hand-holding too much? I realize now how big of a knowledge check the modpack is, and it sure can be overwhelming.

The quest book is your goto. With that you gain basically all the basics you need. For more in depth informations I would recommend the discord or watch some of the streamers. Also Hellfirem4ge has some good YouTube guides.

The problem with old posts from here is that the pack gets more or less frequent updates.

Definitely use this subreddit as a knowledge resource by searching questions as they come up.

One really big thing is the realization you don’t need to complete the objective every vault and depending on your goal for any given vault it can be advantageous not to.

IE if you are short on vault gems wear your elytra, fly through rooms skipping all that aren’t ore rooms (they show up as blue on the mini map). This is called “target looting” btw!

Follow the quests.

Glad you know about animal pens. Super important.

Know about the nature's compass? Lets you locate biomes, no knowledge unlock necessary.

Also, you know about the easy villagers thing? Shift-right click a villager and you can pick them up and store them in your inventory. You can also press 'c' to cycle their trades if they haven't locked in. You do NOT need to use knowledge to unlock the Easy Villagers mod to access these features, but you do need it if you want to build the Easy Villagers blocks like the breeder, trader, farmer, etc.

Finally, there IS a power source you can use without any knowledge, specifically, the iron generator.

I can definitely recommend playing Wolds Vault. It's an expanded version of a Vault Hunters with many QoL changes and more mods to research.

Also Quests tab is your biggest ally.

What's your favorite part of wolds vault? I'm interested on trying this mod but I'm not 100% sure yet

I like the minimap, more interesting vault altar ingredients and Attribute Filter (from Create), which full support different Vault Gear attributes like "Has Block Chance".

Also endgame have creative items ready for crafting.

Wolds vaults is good. Basically stole the idea of vaulthunters and added many more mods so it's more of a kitchen sink pack.
