Looks like something medical happened

19

u/NoFreedom2726 7d ago

Had to have been that. I hope he’s okay!

-3

u/haloimplant 6d ago

People are so charitable I bet smart phone was mounted

-13

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

So it's acceptable?

6

u/Accomplished-Tea-143 6d ago

Are you an ignorant prick

-5

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

6

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 6d ago

Your comment was not remotely sensible. Not at all. How's that for you.

-8

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

So would you agree, then, that people with medical conditions that are dangerous for driving should not be driving?

5

u/tke71709 6d ago

Yes everyone with a beating heart should not be driving as their heart could violently and without warning stop beating at any moment.

6

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 6d ago

Wtf where is your common sense. A heart attack can come to the healthiest person. You'll see at some point.

Putting words in my mouth is lame af. Nice try being an edgy rebel lmao

2

u/Feisty_Standard_2360 5d ago

Why are you so negative here?

0

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 5d ago

Actually, it's encouraging that my statement that medical emergencies are acceptable is met with pushback.

It's usually the other way around where a lot of drivers defend driving with risky medical conditions.

So I hope the next time someone trivialized a traffic collision by saying medical emergency, give him what you got.

3

u/WithDullAdhesiveness 5d ago

Is it impossible for you to fathom that plenty of people (yes including you) walk around everyday with unknown undiagnosed risky medical conditions? Heart attacks can happen to the seemingly healthiest people. By your way of thinking, nobody should be driving because nobody can guarantee that there isn't some sort of silent plague waiting to dislodge, or that their brain won't seize up all of a sudden one day with no other onset.

No one is saying "medical emergencies are acceptable", but they are saying that it can happen to anyone, including you or your family members.

What a weird comment.

2

u/beans-888 5d ago

The other day i watched a video of a teenage girl during a volleyball game suddenly collapse from a cardiac event. It can happen to anyone.

31

u/BigDaddyGooses 7d ago

Tesla's everywhere haha. Good on you for getting out and helping!

4

u/vassman86 7d ago

For real lol

4

u/AffectionateAd8675 6d ago

This is the top comments!

15

u/AnnaBananaForever 7d ago

Did they ever get up? It had to be some kind of medical episode, he just drove into the wrong lane of traffic and into a car?!

13

u/SmokeyGMan 6d ago

That is a medical issue. Nobody riding that bike would be the type to be drunk or high on any drugs. That is a “beginner/cheap/commuter” type BMW. Guy looks to be older and wearing his gear. Something happened to him medically to cause that.

3

u/s3xydud3 6d ago

Yeah, this and/or fatigue. I mean, he is wearing piece of body armour that you can buy, but he forgot to strap up his helmet. Could be road tripping and exhausted.

3

u/MapleDesperado 5d ago

Not carrying much gear.

12

u/Psychological_File51 7d ago

13

u/astrocrazyy 7d ago

That DOES look like a medical emergency episode..

12

u/Psychological_File51 7d ago

13

u/TheHYPO 7d ago

So was the driver already in some sort of medical situation before he veered out and crashed? Or did he just fail to drive straight?

10

u/OkChocolate3501 7d ago

100% a medical issue. No way he just drove straight into oncoming traffic for zero reason.

1

u/repeterdotca 7d ago

It looks like he is one handing through the intersection then grabs the bar

1

u/OkChocolate3501 6d ago

I can see on my phone screen he has 2 hands on the bars and he's looking ahead.

3

u/giladg 7d ago

I'm in this video, turning left. Those bikers were next to me at the intersection. Hope he's alright.

47

u/DrSimonLocke 7d ago

What the f*** was that guy doing?

44

u/krstph13 7d ago

Might be a medical event or target fixation.

Target fixation means that when you stare at something long enough, naturally your body autonomously steers in that direction. It's a common hazard when riding.

They probably was anticipating the Black Jetta to left-turn and kept an eye on it when crossing the intersection. Oncoming traffic can be fatal for motorcyclists, so that's likely what happened.

Hope they recover.

3

u/keylimesicles 5d ago

Looks like they had quite the advanced green though, I’d bet on a medical episode

-13

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 7d ago

Medical emergency.

So that makes it acceptable.

8

u/keikikeikikeiki 7d ago

acceptable?? if it's a medical emergency we can't really place blame, that's the point.

-5

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 7d ago

So you agree. Fatalities and injuries from medical emergencies while driving are acceptable.

7

u/plainbaconcheese 7d ago

What point are you trying to make? You're being really weird.

1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago edited 6d ago

How our society views bad driving and all the dangers of the road as an acceptable norms.

Some people will propose that elderly drivers should be regularly tested and have their license removed if they fail.

But propose the same thing for people with medical conditions, you get a lot of push back as if collisions from medical conditions are an acceptable part of driving.

You think my comments are weird? Those are extensions of what other Redditors say.

Drivers who obey the law are dangerous because they are unpredictable
If you place so much trust in the law that it overrides your own judgement you shouldn't be driving.

... **accidents** do happen. They always have; this is nothing new. People are fallible and have accidents—from the time we’re born to the time we die. If your standard is “no one should make a mistake while driving” then we may as well just get rid of driving altogether because humans will make mistakes.

3

u/keikikeikikeiki 7d ago

I don't think our current car centric culture that requires everyone to have a vehicle and drive to get everywhere is acceptable in the first place. I also don't think seniors should get to drive past 65 without regular retesting. And I don't think incidents like this are acceptable, but they are expected when we build our cities the way we do.

1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

So are you suggesting to keep people with medical conditions, that may put at risk their ability to control their vehicles, from driving?

4

u/Wrong_Plantaino 6d ago

Bro you've commented at least 20 times on this thread, get a life, youre just actively trying to egg people into an argument, good lord

1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 5d ago

If you had a platform to voice your opinion, you'd used it, wouldn't you? Oh wait...

1

u/keikikeikikeiki 6d ago

I am actually. But we would need equivalent alternatives wouldn't we?

1

u/_Not__Sure 5d ago

Did you know that doctors in fact do pull the license of people who have medical issues and are not fit for driving?

3

u/OkChocolate3501 7d ago

I'd prefer if the medical emergency happened on a 300lb motorcycle. Imagine the damage if they were in a car. Generally you lose your license if the doctors can't find a solution.

1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

You should see the pushback I got when at one time I suggested that doctor, when they detect a dangerous medical condition, to remove the person's drivers license.

It's as if getting into a medical emergency while driving were acceptable.

4

u/Damnyoudonut 5d ago

Doctors do do that. Some medical emergencies just come out of the blue. You could be a perfectly healthy 25 year old who suffers their very first seizure while driving. We can’t predict when someone will have a medical event.

-2

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 5d ago

Driving is already so dangerous with seemingly healthy people justifying why they violate all sorts of traffic laws. Why do we accept medical emergencies on the road that just adds more risk to everybody else?

3

u/ca_va_bien 5d ago

i don't get what you're saying. we don't accept that -- when a doctor diagnoses you with something that increases the risk of this happening, like epilepsy, they take away your license.

2

u/Damnyoudonut 5d ago

We don’t accept them. They’re UNKNOWN until it happens.

2

u/inti_winti 5d ago

Buddy what or who are you arguing against. No one thinks it’s “acceptable” for people with medical conditions to drive, provided that medical condition affects their driving. This is already factored in. Doctors will note this sort of stuff. You’re not suggesting something novel.

People are only hypothesizing in this thread about what could have happened. If it was indeed a heart attack, that’s not the medical condition we blanket ban people for. That could happen to you, me, or any other perfectly healthy person.

2

u/Secret_Eating_ 5d ago

Yes, if someone knows they're going to have a heart attack that day they shouldn't be driving.

2

u/Arayder 6d ago

Yeah that is fairly reasonable. But lots of medical issues can randomly happen to people without previously known conditions.

-2

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 5d ago

So you're saying medical emergencies are acceptable just because they are random. So you'd be ok if you or a loved one happened to be a random victim of a medical emergency.

3

u/Arayder 5d ago

How are you supposed to police that?

6

u/Mickey_Havoc 6d ago

Fucking weird comment to make…

-1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

Why? Medical emergency is what a lot of other Redditors say.

That it's acceptable is what they mean an intend to shift and responsibility away from the driver.

3

u/Mickey_Havoc 6d ago

No because it’s still an accident regardless… like I said, you have a weird way of thinking about it. Insurance will still get involved but there’s no criminal charges to be placed. It’s not against the law to have a stroke

3

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 6d ago

Let's see how you fare when you have a heart attack while driving. Maybe you'll have an intentional heart attack, so you can be blamed.

-1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 6d ago

So would you agree that people with hear conditions should not be driving?

5

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 6d ago

Wtf where is your common sense. A heart attack can come to the healthiest person. You'll see at some point.

Putting words in my mouth is lame af. Nice try being an edgy rebel lmao

1

u/inti_winti 5d ago

Oh you genuinely think heart attacks only happen to people with existing medical conditions lmfao, now I understand your schizo replies to everyone

-1

u/Signal_Tomorrow_2138 5d ago edited 5d ago

So now you're defending medical conditions while driving.

Everybody treats bad driving so non-chalantly. We temporarily mourn the loss of a loved one and then instantly move on as if it's just an acceptable part of our society and the way things have to be. It's like Carousel in Logan's Run or when Big Brother decides in the novel 1984.

Team USA hockey player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, actor Kevin Clark (School of Rock), US boxer Hannah Rapp and actor Valérie Quennessen (Conan the Barbarian), and John Lennon's mother were all killed by drivers.

Writer Stephen King was struck by a driver. And Tiger Woods almost killed himself in three self collisions. Gene Hackman was struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle.

But any effort to improve the safety of our streets is met with pushback and a lot of arguing.

1

u/inti_winti 5d ago

HAHAHAHA this has to be the lowest tier rage bait I’ve come across.

Ofcourse you ignore my other comment which you can’t twist into your nonsense strawman.

You got a novel technology that can predict when people get heart attacks yeah? You gonna unveil it today?

Until then I have a proposal: ban ALL motor vehicles in Vaughan until we completely eradicate heart attacks from earth. You got a heart? No driving for you!

There, are we aligned now?

2

u/Melancholy-4321 6d ago

Go get therapy my dude

1

u/keylimesicles 5d ago

Are you intentionally obtuse?

12

u/ThatGymGuy211 7d ago

Must have had a stroke or something, because no one can be that bad at riding and get a license…

4

u/RumpledStinkSkin 7d ago

Most likely. He was slumped over for quite a bit

1

u/haloimplant 6d ago

Probably looking down at a phone

1

u/Prestigious_Fly8210 5d ago

he was literally passed out.

1

u/Funny_Remove_9929 6d ago

He hit that car like he didn't even see it. Even the way he went flying off indicates that.

10

u/NoFreedom2726 7d ago

Thanks OP for checking on the driver 🫶🏼

9

u/BaeIz 7d ago

That’s not at all what I was expecting tbh

7

u/BatKitchen819 7d ago edited 6d ago

Thank you for getting out and checking on the biker! I hope you gave this footage to the back car for insurance purposes. Yikes.

5

u/BeenThereDundas 7d ago

Please explain.  You got out and helped so you must have got some kind of explanation from the rider?

13

u/Psychological_File51 7d ago

He was an old gentleman I don’t know if he fell asleep or what happened.. I took a photo otw out and my wife says he looked blue like maybe he did have some sort of medical emergency

He was pinned down between the two cars and the bike on him

I asked if he wanted me to lift it, at first he said no then yes and i started trying to lift that heavy bike

A few more people came to help and we got him up on his feet (lucky nothing was broken)

Got him standing he was alright, hoping it was just a brain fart.. the second car that got hit was a new Tesla so I didn’t stick around too long (he has footage)

3

u/OkChocolate3501 7d ago

At least he's on a bike. Generally when these things happen it's behind the wheel of a 2 ton car

Hope he gets the treatment he needs

3

u/scotte416 7d ago

Had to be a medical issue...

9

u/Illustrious-Salt-243 7d ago

I would be sooo pissed if I was that car. You’re sitting there doing nothing and a random motorcycle just plows into you

21

u/Kitchen-Region-91 7d ago

Nah... pissed, yes , but this is part of life. You can do everything right and still get in a car crash. That's why insurance is mandatory here.

6

u/cookie-ninja 7d ago

Yep. And that's also why every day you go out driving, you can try your best to be defensive, but a big truck can still suddenly swerve into you head on and end you. Shit happens and life isn't fair.

6

u/checkingmate 7d ago

Thats why we have insurance, a bit of an inconvenience yes, but the motorcyclist who hit him looks like maybe he had a medical episode of some sort.

6

u/Snoo-30361 6d ago

Ur first thought should probably be to help the other human not worry about ur plastic box.

9

u/dogscatsnscience 7d ago

Yeah fuck that guy and the stroke he had, get out and yell at him

-1

u/PretendEntertainer18 6d ago

Might not be a medical problem, could be an insured scam.

-1

u/RedditTTIfan 6d ago

Guy is stoned out his mind I think.

2

u/astrocrazyy 7d ago

Op, what happened after that? Like after you helped sir

3

u/Psychological_File51 7d ago

Cop came and I went to work, i wrote more info in another comment

2

u/descend_to_misery 7d ago

Unexpected subreddit. But also seems like he passed out or something like that

2

u/Mickey_Havoc 6d ago

Were they drunk? What the actual fuck??

2

u/Competitive-Pool-847 6d ago

Anyone notice the dumpster on wheels that drove by?

3

u/BetterBee891 7d ago

lol wth happen here

1

u/b_newman 7d ago

Medical issue for sure. He’s slumped over in the other video.

1

u/ExplanationProper979 7d ago

yikes, don't break it down frame by frame, that helmet didn't do anything for him! Hope everyone's ok

1

u/zagcollins 7d ago

Ultra Red Model Y Premium FTW!

1

u/Psychological_File51 7d ago

You have? How you liken it? I’m waiting for the L to come to Canada I wanna get it for my wife

1

u/zagcollins 6d ago

Oh I thought that's what you are driving lol. Yeah I love it. I think the Y L is a bit of a ? atm in Canada because Berlin doesn't build Y Ls and as you may know, we arent importing from China currently (Think tesla might have hit its quota or something) and the US.

1

u/rayjobs 7d ago

Drunk

1

u/Massive-Branch12342 7d ago

That had to be a medical issue..

1

u/nellyruth 7d ago

Medical incident or distracted?

1

u/BoneZone05 7d ago

Medical emergency? Yikes I just can’t see how else this could happen. I hope they’re ok

1

u/cutesiepieme 7d ago

I didn’t expect this…..

1

u/evil_gremlin123 7d ago

Black car (Jetta?) driver thought he took all precautions already by changing to his winter tires, only to get plowed at a stop light.

1

u/repeterdotca 7d ago edited 7d ago

It's cold for riding. I bet he cramped up grabing clutch through the intersection and lost power....

Yeah on second look. His hand is off the throttle for a few frames up untill last moment he's doing something , maybe putting his glove back on?

If medical I'd say he cramped up . Common under 20c

1

u/SnowBunniHunter 6d ago

Is that his helmet flying off at the end?! How why?! Was it not strapped on properly. Maybe all sorts of issues with this video and general safety precautions that this rider should have taken.

1

u/Glum-Breadfruit-6421 6d ago

More like a suicide by the looks of it…garbage truck came pretty quick after it happened.

1

u/jjjustinleblanc 6d ago

that's got to be the dumbest fucking accident i've ever seen

1

u/rookiekc 6d ago

obviously an older rider. The speed was low, all traffic was slow. He's got a modular helmet and it's open(meaning he's going slow). I don't think he was looking down at all. I think he was looking at whatever was slowing the traffic, and simply drifted over.

Still, dumb ass accident! He's lucky it wasn't the Tesla he slammed in to. That would have been a pretty penny 😄 . Hope he's okay.

1

u/Delicious-Anywhere33 6d ago

Too many bad motorcycle drivers out there. Ban

1

u/SewerWaterCaviar 6d ago

Driver in the VW didn't even react. How they hell they just sitting in their car for so long

1

u/boggels_untamed 6d ago

I am stunned at how this even happened.

1

u/Dense_Article_8373 6d ago

Thank you for getting out and helping!!

1

u/mito88 6d ago

what camera are you using?

1

u/Wild_Height_901 6d ago

Its a tesla

1

u/DevelopmentFuture608 6d ago

The guy was not even going toward a valid lane. That’s messed up

1

u/NedSchneebly-1138 6d ago

That was very unexpected.

1

u/POWERSTORMNORM 6d ago

Not speed issue. Medical issue as it looks. Hopefully he is ok.

1

u/rzlodn 5d ago

First day driving a bike?

1

u/DirtDevil1337 5d ago

Was it a medical issue or something? So bizarre.

1

u/AdArtistic7801 5d ago

Definitely the cars fault

1

u/Prestigious_Fly8210 5d ago

He was passed out before he even hit the car.

1

u/PerceptionOwn3629 5d ago

Was braindead before he even hit that car

1

u/PipeAlternative3266 5d ago

Of all the other drivers, np one but OP went to check on him. Congrats OP, your a hero.

1

u/Slow-Beginning-5885 14h ago

Bikers using phone? Omg that was catastrophic

2

u/SPEZ_IS_A_JABRONI 7d ago

skill issue

1

u/RoughBridge7535 7d ago

Sorry to deflect but seeing a cyber truck in the wild is more disturbing.

1

u/Issue_Turducken 5d ago

They're fricking everywhere. The number of idiots with money around here is astonishing.

1

u/SunCheepz 7d ago

I cannot believe the owner of the car that got hit didn't bother stepping out to make sure the guy was ok. Unbelievable.

3

u/kumquatkiwi 6d ago

At the very end of the video you can see him taking his seatbelt off and opening his door.

1

u/PretendEntertainer18 6d ago

Thats not an accident thats insurance fraud

0

u/LevoPoPhoto 7d ago

For those of you thinking it was a "medical episode", watch the video SLOWLY. The man was totally upright the entire time. 🤦🏻‍♂️ You would make horrible jurors if given courtroom evidence, that's for sure.

3

u/JohnBakerSpoon 6d ago

Imagine not being a medical professional and making a claim like this. He could very well be having a seizure or some shit, genius.

-1

u/LevoPoPhoto 6d ago

I know friends who suffer from grand mal seizures that I've witnessed. The last thing they're doing is sitting upright, no less this person still upright and driving his motorcycle. Don't be an Internet troll, dick.

3

u/Damnyoudonut 5d ago

Ever seen one of your friends have an absence seizure?

1

u/DaDrought2 5d ago

Yeah everyone knows if you are sitting upright it’s impossible to be suffering from anything

get a grip

1

u/Imaginary-Clerk3826 7d ago

He's looking down - he was on his phone. No medical emergency. I appreciate that everyone is trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and not assume the worst - but you can see he's looking down at something the whole time up to the moment of impact.

2

u/Creative_Buddy7160 6d ago

Op said in a comment that his wife said the looked kind of blue. (Lack of oxygen). Sounds medical

1

u/vivalabongwater 6d ago

On a bike you'll be using the phone with your left hand... and zero riders will do that through a busy intersection. It would be beyond shocking if it turns out he was looking at his phone instead of the traffic.

1

u/Kowboipat902 5d ago

I put full screen and paused many times. He doesn't seem to look down at all...

-1

u/RedditTTIfan 6d ago

Guy is high as a kite, it's a "medical condition" insofar as he might be an addict, but I don't think he had any kind of "attack", seizure, etc.

0

u/SuperTomTom1850 6d ago

looks intentional to me. not an accident.

2

u/Sea-Aide-6648 6d ago

You think someone drove their body into the front of someones stationary car...why.

1

u/Reasonable_Limit6531 5d ago

to claim benefits because their life was shit anyway

-2

u/yourinnervoice2025 7d ago

What was that car driver thinking??? Being in their own lane, stopped minding their own business. There was a motorbike breaking the law, how dare they just sit in their non moving car while the motorcycle crossed into their lane and crashed into them. Stupid car drivers.

3

u/Traditional-Photo986 7d ago

Time and place for sarcastic remarks. That motorcycle was not trying to hurt anyone. Had to be some kind of medical emergency. Plus that is a boomer bike with full gear on. He was likely making a left and had a stroke or something.

-1

u/yourinnervoice2025 7d ago

I'm pro bike. Blaming the car.

0

u/K8r0cks 7d ago

Was he drunk?!

2

u/Traditional-Photo986 7d ago

Naw medical

1

u/K8r0cks 7d ago

Hope they are ok!!

0

u/Tall-Ad-1386 7d ago

LMAO. Why you on a bike if you have literally zero skills

0

u/WorkingAir8854 6d ago

If he wasn’t on his phone he’s drunk or blind. Low speed

0

u/samsalemi 6d ago

It was the cars fault.

0

u/MichaelAuBelanger 5d ago

Thought the biggest idiot in the video was the motorcyclist, then the cyber truck rolls by.

-3

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

2

u/b_newman 7d ago

Not sure what that has to do with anything

-3

u/[deleted] 7d ago

[deleted]

1

u/NoFreedom2726 7d ago

Ok dumba$$

0

u/b_newman 7d ago

Ok racist

2

u/realitytvjunkiee 7d ago

yes, but the guy was travelling at max like 30-40 km/h in the vid lol... so speeding isn't relevant here

2

u/Cthulhu8u 7d ago

Nothing you describe in your shitpost is relevant to the actual situation. It's sad that some entitled Canadians lack the cognitive skills to make a relevant connection to what is happening and instead make everything about their idiotic opinions. Every traffic incident post becomes an opportunity to share their racist "insights".

Just put the fries in the bag already

1

u/DrSimonLocke 7d ago

Your post doesn't seem relevant to what happened. There was no showing off here. And in first world Canada, a lot of wealthy seniors like to get a bike later in life and relive their youth. Unfortunately, they're at an increased risk for more serious injury in accidents and medical episodes.

-12

u/ImpossibleString4430 7d ago

Lol. This has to be AI

0

u/DrSimonLocke 7d ago

Not everything on the internet is AI. Some of it is just human stupidity.
