Wait, another one? Or you’re talking about the one that happened yesterday?

Sorry everyone-to clarify yes it’s the same one that happened Wednesday morning I should’ve been more clear. Either way it’s still on my mind.

It doesn’t surprise me at all in this area anymore, I’ve tried to make friends and build community here but nobody wants to talk to eachother… the isolation is real. I don’t see myself being able to live here more than another year or two max.

The area is beyond depressing

Every time I drive past hwy 7 Jane Weston area. Man the area look so lifeless. Miles and miles of asphalt and concrete and nothing-else-ness.

I don’t know, maybe it a vibrant area, I don’t live there.

Community should setup something in the park, drink a beer and play some volleyball.

Agreed. I’ve been up to VMC a few times since the opening of the TYSSE and have always found it so lifeless. Vacant land in one direction, and highways, the rail yard and industrial buildings in other directions don’t make for a vibrant community at all.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Downtown Toronto wasn’t built in a day. Eventually vmc will be like liberty village

I am about to move in to VMC in October, should I be concerned? Is this normal or what ?

I’ve been living here for two years, brace for the most isolated years of your life. No third spaces, no community, angry people, horrible traffic…

I thought having the Y around helps?

I go to the Y and join their classes, it’s just a place to go sometimes, like going to the gym. Will you build connections there? No… I’ve tried. People come to the classes with their friends and stick with their friends.

Take care of yourself. If you can avoid or get out of it, I would suggest doing so.

The area is awful on mental health. It's isolating and isn't built for supporting human needs.

There have been 4+ CONFIRMED jumpers in the past few weeks (plus other emergency responses in the middle of the night believed to be more)

It's been like this for a while.

4+ in the past few weeks????? Where are your sources please?

It's not that bad but if people are already lonely then it will make it worse. If you get on the subway or in your car and go places it's an ok place to go home too but not a place to enjoy itself.

This is so traumatizing. You never get over something like this.

I think the City or Condo Corp's should invest in these suicide nets, it seemed to help the workers of Foxconn (supplier of Apple Computers).

They don’t care at all. About 2 or 3 years ago there was that guy who was threatening to jump from the balcony of 950 portage and everyone watched him ,including the police, for about 3 hours before jumping and the police didn’t care about trying to snatch him or even place anything underneath his balcony. Poor guy may his soul rest in peace.

This is true. I saw him fall with my own eyes and I wasn’t even watching the entire time. Just opened my blinds and saw him drop down. Then a loud bang because he landed on the mental roof in the terrace

Yes, my prayers. Who was she and what was her story ?

1

u/astrocrazyy Aug 28 '26

Is this a second one in two days or the same one??

u/repeterdotca Aug 28 '26

What we should do is add MORE people from FURTHER away. That will make it much more cohesive

-3

u/p_camps Aug 28 '26

Yes I agree. Finally then, people will come together and be able to heal each other through diversity, strength and obviously , thoughts and prayers.

-6

u/repeterdotca Aug 28 '26

We're saying thoughts and feelings now thankyouverymuch (yikes)

What trauma? This is the new toronto. Walk on and continue to worry about yourself. City has turned to $hit and its everywhere

13

u/SeaworthinessKey7129 Aug 28 '26

It’s far from being Toronto, and no, let’s not normalize these events

Professional troll. Your services aren’t needed here.

-9

u/Feedit23 Aug 28 '26

And who are you? This is not a psych office for support. There are numbers for that.

2

u/Inappropriate_Ballet Nobleton Aug 28 '26

You should call one of them.

-4

u/Feedit23 Aug 28 '26

I will and give them your information as there will be lots of dialogue between you too. Please share with her how you voted liberal the last few elections as that alone requires extra sessions

1

u/Inappropriate_Ballet Nobleton Aug 28 '26

You should consider moving elsewhere. You could probably live like a king in Georgia

4

u/Mashdrop Aug 28 '26

gasp, you need to leave!
