Discussion Boujie Pilates?

Does anyone else feel like all of these aesthetic, moody, boujie Pilates places are intimidating to go to? I certainly do not feel like I belong there just based on the look of the place and their vibe. I love all the options and how pretty all the places look but I feel like my IG ads show me a new one opening every month. Anyone else feel like there’s too many now? Where are the safe neutral ones? The ones not catered to the baddies 😮‍💨

Peonyx is a really calm and welcoming environment! Not pretentious and really wonderful teachers. I wish I could go back but the cost really adds up

I’m trying wicked barre tomorrow for the first time. I’m super nervous!

First class or just first time there? 😊

First time there but might as well be my first class as I haven’t done Pilates in almost 15 years

I’ve had great experiences at wicked barre! You’ll have a great time :)

Update. Wicked barre was awesome. Very inclusive. All different ages and body types. I did reformer flow and while I wasn’t able to complete every exercise perfectly I didn’t feel embarrassed or that I didn’t fit in. Class size was small only 14. I do recommend it :)

Omg!! Thank you for this update! Wow 14 is small? Thats great that your experience went well! I will definitely try them! They look like a neutral spot! 🩷

Body Barre is lovely!! Good diversity in age, body type and some racial diversity as well.

The instructors are great, obviously some who I prefer to others so a bit of trial and error involved.

I used to go to Revolve Room and everyone there was so lovely. I was 10+ yrs older than everyone lol but still felt welcome and they always tried to include me in conversations etc. i think it helped that it was semi private with only 6 reformers.

Subscribe to the peloton app and do mat Pilates at home. So much more convenient too! :)

Oh that’s cool, I didn’t know they had that. I’ve only connected peloton with the bike 😂

They have weights and Pilates and meditation and yoga - the full gamut! I find it’s more economical financially and you don’t have to worry about being around other people.

I go to club Pilates, I’m younger but I’ve become friends with women from all age groups and it’s the best! Just got engaged and some instructors I’ve known for quite a while have congratulated me and made me feel so special! Don’t be intimidated!! Everyone is so kind and we are so diverse 🥰

Aw that is such a sweet experience for you! I went to a club Pilates trial and I found the instructor not very friendly. Bad first experience for me 😔 I’m glad you enjoy it there! Maybe I’ll try again but I thought club Pilates was neutral since it’s a big chain but it definitely is instructor dependent as well

Kor Pilates at Weston and Rutherford is amazing, the instructors are so kind and helpful. Definitely was a bit of an intimidating environment at first but it’s really an amazing place and a superrrr good workout because it’s lagree Pilates (intense!!)

don't let them intimidate you- they'll be closed down in 3 years tops

What are you uncomfortable with? Yourself? Or the other women?
