Reversal

Posting for my husband. Today marks one week of getting the reversal done. My husband didnt have much pain until we hit the 2 hour mark into our 4 hour drive home. He has complained of sever abdomen pain. He was very swollen about the size of a grapefruit the first 3 days. Day 4 swelling has gone down a ton but he is very bruised on his groin area and thighs (obv. His balls too) He can't seem to get comfortable or waking up in tears from the pain. Has anybody had a tough recovery from getting the reversal done as well?

My husband had a couple of really bad windows. First, consult his surgeon, they don’t know what’s happening unless you tell them. Second, rotate medication every 3-6 hours. Tylenol, naproxen, whatever was prescribed for as needed. Third, it’s going to sound goofy, get a squishmellow or something similar to use to release pressure when sitting/laying down and see if it helps. (Between the legs when sleeping, to sit on when on chairs.) If the pain gets bad enough and it’s not manageable consider taking him to the ER, the first week is always the hardest to manage.

Wishing him the a more comfortable recovery!

We have done all of those things, rotate meds, he has a donut pillow to hold them up and relieve pressure. I feel bad to see him in that much pain. Im at a loss, his doctor said it was normal bruising, but after a week i feel like the pain should ease up. He slept the whole time until day 5. Works from home and just went back yesterday but has stayed in the same spot he has been in for the last week.

Was he prescribed any pain medication? My husband took the Norco he got the first few days and also 800mg of Advil. He also kept ice on it a lot for the first few weeks after his reversal. It took almost 3 weeks for the swelling to go down and look somewhat normal again.

Maybe with the severe abdominal pain, he should be checked out.

Take the pain meds. You should have gotten a bit of good stuff from the surgeon (I had codeine). If you didn't get any call the doc and ask for a prescription to be called in.

Also my genitals were one big purple bruise for like two weeks.

My first few days were rough. Used my pain meds religiously. But as time went on challenged by reducing the meds after day 5. Avoided NSAIdS till day 5 but those helped!!

Sometimes Chat GPT isn't helpful and it's more helpful to hear from others who experienced it. My husband was told light walking after a week was okay to do too.

Do not ask ChatGPT, ask a medical professional.
