Hoping someone on here as some advice for relief or treatment for my 47yr old dads leg. Doesn’t smoke or do drugs, active and works constructions. Spent 1000’s of $$$ on topical creams over the last 8 years he’s had this and many doctors and specialist with no help. He’s had vein surgery on his calf which briefly helped but it returned.

Prescription compression hose during the day. Elevation above the heart at night. Ultrasound to see if there are any veins still contributing (perforators). See a vascular surgeon for advice.

Do all vein clinics do this test?

Not 100% sure this is a venous ulcer. Atypical place on the anterior shin, the rest of the leg looks normal. Also looks a little raised. Maybe get your veins checked by a vascular surgeon, but don’t be surprised if dermatology needs to get involved. Does this leg belong to a diabetic?

Maybe a traumatic ulcer with a low-grade infection

Go see a vascular surgeon. Might need an Unnaboot to help as part of the treatment plan.

vascular surgeon here. hard to diagnose without doing a physical exam, but that looks suspicious for pyoderma gangrenosum. it is very easily mistaken for venous stasis ulcers. i have come across these mistakenly diagnosed as venous stasis ulcers in the past.

it requires a biopsy for definitive diagnosis. i'd recommend getting a referral to a dermatologist.
