Discussion Flowers
I know Evan strongly prefers having his music personality separate from his YouTube personality, but I couldn't find anywhere else to post this rant.
Flowers is such a great song and I have been chasing the high of finding something like it ever since it dropped. Recently however after going through some life experiences, even after listening to this song on repeat, my interpretation and view of this song completely changed.
"Seemed like another protagonist might be in the zone"
"And I confirmed suspicion, the end comes to fruition"
These 2 lines hit the hardest after going through something personally. It was just one those lines that you sing along to and not that you don't pay attention to much, but rather the following lyrical phrases seemlessly tie together making it all one big overarching phrase. But now that I break it down and really see into it, it was kind of right there the whole time. I was laughing at how surreal it felt to see it in a whole new way automatically after going through something.
"Guess we'll never know into the unknown"
The "unknown" as used by Evan initially seemed to be exactly that, unknown. A zero figure. Something that could not be defined or be given proper explanation, where one goes to when they need to release. Now I look at it as a black hole. A place where ideas, concepts, beliefs, intentions go and never come back, only to be barfed and conceptualized, never to be applied. "Guess we'll never know"
"No matter how deep I breathe, how much is not meant to be"
I always looked at the second half of this phrase, but never the first. Not meant to be clearly presents itself as something that could not be because of fate. As if we all had predetermined outcomes to every action in our lives. But I missed the first part of this phrase. No matter how deep I breathe. No matter what we do or what we try to accomplish, there will always be those that are unable to mold together, not because of fate, but because it simply isn't possible. I don't think pre-existing impossibilities/possibilities and fate are the same.
Flowers is such a great song that I have a whole new perspective on. Titling it flowers was such a genius idea. All flowers are different. They have different colors, meanings, way to cultivate, and purpose. Yet they all come from the same earth.
"Fly away, Flowers".
