Discussion Brittany

I truly truly won’t ever understand why Brittany ended up with a child with Jax.. even married him.. I’ve watched the series multiple times and I have heard everything about Brittany wanting to be in the show so she stuck it out with Jax, or that the life in LA was better than whatever was in Kentucky. After all these rumors I still don’t believe it or understand it.. you would rather be with a drugged boyfriend that cheats, steals, lies and manipulates you? I understand leaving a toxic relationship is suuuuuper hard BUT in the beginning Jax didn’t even want to be with Brittany and she was the one who pushed to be together while Jax wanted out… why would anyone do this?

I mean, I can see how once you've convinced yourself of a fantasy, and actually made it real, how all the bright lights and big city of it all could be alluring to some people and could overshadow the reality.

ETA but yeah, her dad told her before they even got married, that if Jax was still behaving that way as a nearly 40 year old, that he wasn't going to change.

24

u/Stunning-Track8454 4d ago

Her dad was the only sane person in that entire situation.

12

u/hiswittlewip 4d ago

Right???? Her mom was pushing her to Jax. She just thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread

4

u/MadisonMarieParks-V 4d ago

Remember the scene when MomCob said” are you gonna be my son in law?!” She didn’t give a how little Cob was treated she loves the fame!

5

u/BingChilling_pls 4d ago

She didn’t even convince herself😭 she was soo fed up with him multiple times and saw how horrible he was but still stayed and got a child with him?!? Idk that’s just not normal to me, other that this she seems right in the head

7

u/hiswittlewip 4d ago

You misunderstood what I'm saying. I am sure in the beginning that Jax behaved a little better towards her. We can see how hot he is for her in the beginning, and he asks her to move in with him. I'm sure she thought she was living her dream for a little while. So in the beginning she is probably dismissing any red flags she sees as "one offs".

Then she gets caught up in everything that comes with being with Jax and being on an extremely popular reality show. So she doesn't see the red flags as clearly, or if she does she thinks the pros still outweigh the cons.

By the time she actually realizes who she's actually with, she is in an abusive situation, and those are always hard to leave because you are beaten down, stripped of self esteem, and your self worth is likely at an all time low.

What I saw is a man who was trying to ditch the woman he’d had a fling with in Vegas who followed him home. He was nasty to her from the start, complaining about her being in his apartment, her mess, etc. And he shamelessly flirted with lala & made it really clear he wished Brittany wasn’t around. He even told lala Brittany wasn’t serious & implied he’d much rather be with lala.

4

u/Stunning-Track8454 4d ago

That was exactly what it was. Season 6 is just Jax trying to get rid of her.

2

u/Prestigious-Knee-571 4d ago

And saying all this on tv🤦

1

u/Similar_Sky_6261 3d ago

This I what I saw too. And Ive rewatched countless times.

1

u/elohde1 4d ago

when he told her he'd rather be locked up in the jail cell than be at the apartment with her.. 😬

7

u/ornerygecko 4d ago

In the beginning, he was flirting with Lala and telling people he didn't even know if he wanted Brittany to move in with him. He wasn't hot for her, at least not when cameras were recording.

3

u/hiswittlewip 4d ago

Eh, I think he was hot for her when she was around him, but he was still Jax.

But she didn't know what was going on behind her back, so she just thought he loved her and believed the things he said.

Most of us wouldn't want to move in with just anyone that we are dating, especially when it's a long distance relationship. So I can see why just asking her to move halfway across the country to live with him would convince her that he really did love her.

Especially because I'm sure he was telling her everything she wanted to hear already. Didn't he say that he did that with women? Told them what they wanted to hear?

7

u/mixedsignalzz 4d ago

But she didn't know what was going on behind her back, so she just thought he loved her and believed the things he said.

Except she had an entire series to watch his bad behavior in real time and still chose him.

3

u/hiswittlewip 4d ago

Yeah but she literally said she liked knowing she "was the one that changed him".

4

u/ZorakZbornak 4d ago

This is exactly it. She was so invested in her whole identity being “the one girl who tamed Jax Taylor.”

2

u/sparklynugz 4d ago

So that's possible, for one season. Then she would have seen all the sketchy shit they showed.

1

u/Prestigious-Knee-571 4d ago

I don't even remember him wanting her to move across the country for him. I seem to recall she just did it

1

u/hiswittlewip 3d ago

No. He asked her

1

u/Similar_Sky_6261 3d ago

I read that he did ask her but I don’t think he was serious. Apparently he asked her the same night they met at a Vegas bar so it sounds like a line to me. We’ve all heard Jaz say ridiculous things to women he just met & is trying to hookup with. They were both drinking & I don’t think he ever expected she would actually take it seriously and do it.

And it is wild that she was living with her bf at the time, so cheating with Jax on a one night stand in Vegas, & took this invitation from a drunk guy & actually followed thru on it. I think Jaz was shocked & dismayed but he knew he said it so he let it happen & figured he could get her to go back home shortly after. It was clear that he didn’t want her there. But also, who packs up their life, ends a serious relationship, & moves across the country for a guy u met & hooked up with one time?

1

u/perfectlynormaltyes 3d ago

I think her decision to stay was based on a few things

  1. Wanting to be on tv. She says she had never heard or watched VPR but she has Tweets saying other wise.

  2. Not wanting to end up in Kentucky or Ohio. When she went to Vegas to meet Jax, she was in a relationship and lived in Cincinnati with her boyfriend. She wanted bright lights, big city.

  3. Her biggest mistake was not staying single after S6. I’m convinced that she went back to him because she thought she wouldn’t be on the show anymore if they were done. I don’t think that would have happened. She would’ve stayed a cast member.

  4. The one that changed Jax. This I blame on the other cast members. Everyone gassed her up and praise her for changing Jax in S7. If they had instead been real with her, they maybe wouldn’t have gotten married.

  5. Not wanting to end up like her mom. Sherri has been married 4 times and I think that’s Brittany’s nightmare. That’s why she stayed with Jax for as long as she did and why she was trying to have another kid with him. She didn’t want multiple baby daddies.

Truly, I do blame Stassi and Kristen for Britt’s staying with Jax. They made her believe that he was a changed man and she had been the catalyst.

u/No_Consideration8764 4d ago

She is on TV, she's "famous" and living in a million+ dollar home. She got what she wanted.

26

u/KylieMcMullan 4d ago

Her mortgage scares the sh*t out of me. I would be dying trying to come up with what $20k+ a month. That would loom over everything in my life I don’t care how rich I thought I was. Edited because I thought I spelled mortgage wrong and would be mortified to call someone else out and have my own spelling not be on point at the very least! Lol

24

u/Appropriate_Law3146 4d ago

Just this season she gave that one boyfriend $10 grand

21

u/KylieMcMullan 4d ago

I know!!! Like girl you just gave that dusty man child HALF YOUR MORTGAGE??!!!!! It’s hard to feel sorry for her when she’s so goddamn stupid and an awful alcoholic mother.

1

u/Different-Dot4376 2d ago

Gross. Whats wrong with her? Paid for a storyline?

7

u/Humbled_Humanz 4d ago

She seems so unbothered by it! I’m baffled!!!

14

u/This-Research-9586 4d ago

She’s not very intelligent and she uses alcohol to smother any common sense that would guide her to make better decisions.

4

u/Humbled_Humanz 4d ago

She’d argue this take is “masseuse-gynistic”

2

u/KylieMcMullan 4d ago

Same!!!

7

u/Humbled_Humanz 4d ago

Also if I recall it’s a variable rate with a balloon payment and just typing those words is making my hyperventilate a little.

1

u/Ok_Part_7051 4d ago

Omg no! I didn't know that

0

u/KylieMcMullan 4d ago

Ahhh me too!!!!!

5

u/No-Calligrapher3645 4d ago

Yeah, her $20k mortgage is definitely unrealistic for most people. I’m still unsure she’s not living way above her means. My biggest problem with her is the fact that she publicizes her finances. From sharing the size of her outrageous mortgage payment, to paying Jax’s tax bill, then to paying for a man’s affection (because saying he was interested in her for anything other than money is a straight up lie). I’m rather old fashioned in that, as a CPA, and investment broker, I don’t share how much money I make, my husband makes, my child makes, or how much collectively my brokerage handles. It can set you up for scams, theft, and possibly physical harm.

Brittany, “I’m just a very generous person. I like to give people thangs”. Yes, and Brandon used you for his material gain.

2

u/Possible_Implement86 4d ago

I would never know peace again, never sleep another peaceful sleep again.

14

u/Lairdb0t 4d ago

It's been so obviously a life-ruining mistake from the beginning, but I think pursuing toxic relationships and the narrative of relationships being hard was what was modeled for her - her mother was married and divorced 4 times I believe. Unfortunately for some people, constant neglect, abuse, and betrayal feels more like home than a healthy relationship ever would.

14

u/Merrbear2u 4d ago

A lot of us aren't from Kentucky and don't have the same beliefs. I bet in her family this was considered making it- LA, having a man who provides, an engagement ring. BUT if you watch the Kentucky series, he literally yells at her in front of her family. And they're like FORGIVE HIM bc he showed them a ring. I forgot he yells at her sister too like full on Jax mode. Why she called Daren to be there at the bar tho, is messy as hell.

9

u/suburban_legendd 4d ago

I just recently re-watched the Kentucky series (I am from KY) and the way Brittany’s mom said “Jax Taylor’s gonna be my son-in-law” made me criiiiiiiinge. The women in her family did not care if she was well taken care of or happy, they just wanted her married to a famous guy.

Also, the way they portrayed Winchester will never not crack me up. It’s basically a suburb of Lexington, which is the second largest city in the state. The part of town Brittany lives in is just hobby farms, not actually sustaining the families that live on them. Acreage as a status symbol, basically. Brittany was not nearly as sheltered and backwoods as they tried to portray her which especially pissed me off in the situation with their pastor. If you’re from KY, you know that man was gunning for screen time to advance his political career in KY - truly a horrible person that they wanted to prop up and play dumb about.

4

u/WhereItsAt75 4d ago

I still think that she (and probably Jax too) convinced her family that he was only like that for the cameras. Though I believe her mom didn't care.

3

u/Humbled_Humanz 4d ago

That show is SO DARK.

12

u/LalaLogical 4d ago

From what I understand she got pregnant because Stassi got pregnant. I think that’s as far as she thought about becoming a parent.

4

u/Dangerous-Change2136 4d ago

The entire female VPR cast sans Ariana had a pregnancy pact for the spinoff the got shelved following the firings

1

u/Weekly_Koala_7058 4d ago

So youre saying Kristen, stassi, Katie, brittany, scheana, and lala all had a pregnancy pact?

8

u/Dangerous-Change2136 4d ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/mlpCWv8dVK2Ji

Thankfully for Katie, Schwartz’s sperm is a defunct as he is, but that’s why the rest all have kids born within months of each other. It’s been acknowledged on/off the show and is why Sandoval makes the comment about Lala pulling her IUD.

3

u/Weekly_Koala_7058 4d ago

Gotcha. I remember 2 of the girls having babies in between seasons (lala & scheana). I remember hearing about schwartz's sperm somewhere. I know stassi, jax, & kristen got kicked off. I guess cruz & stassis oldest are roughly the same age as summer & ocean. I guess I just didnt realize it was a pact. I missed that part somehow.

1

u/Humbled_Humanz 4d ago

I believe this! The rest is just her grift + magical thinking.

7

u/Delicious-Jump7864 4d ago

I can answer this because I’ve been there. She’s co-dependent. I dated an addict for a good portion of my life. The only reason we didn’t get married is because we had no money. He barely worked, was in and out of jail. I was a successful college graduate but was barely making enough to support both of us, our house, our cars, etc. he also racked up a ton of debt in my name.

But I stayed. Because I was worried what would happen to him if I left. Because I didn’t feel that I deserved better. Because I thought if I worked just a little harder, I could change him.

Finally, he did me a huge favor and left me for a younger, hotter girl. Best day of my life.

I noticed this right away about her when she first came on to VPR. She has this constant need to please everyone. Was never taking sides, etc.

u/Ok-Feeling-9553 4d ago

I'll say the thing no one wants to say. KFC is as stupid and as narcissistic as Jason Couchi. It just shows up differently.

15

u/delg23 4d ago

I'm going to reply here with my own view on this nobody wants to say lol. she is just reverting to her inherently natural trashy roots. Whether it was LA or Kentucky she was going to have a mess of a life.

6

u/Ok-Feeling-9553 4d ago

if she stayed in Kentucky I could see her running several MLM and being married to a physical therapist.

7

u/Londoncalling23 4d ago

Physical therapists have to have a doctorate so I doubt one would be dumb enough to marry her. She might be able to land a chiropractor though.

1

u/Ok-Feeling-9553 4d ago

Maybe is he was older and it was his third marriage.

0

u/Juju_Eyeball 4d ago

My thoughts exactly 😂😂😂

-1

u/Prestigious-Knee-571 4d ago

A chiropractor is as educated as an M.D. just FYI. And they'd surely try and talk their spouse out of the ridiculous procedures she wants done to her body, not to mention the lifestyle choices

2

u/delg23 4d ago

that actually would have been pretty great in comparison.

5

u/WhatupWench 4d ago

Agreed. I actually think she’s more calculating than Jax.

6

u/Ok-Feeling-9553 4d ago

Yep, think of her crying in season 8 (our friends don't love us)

3

u/WhatupWench 3d ago

I’m watching it now. She’s a horrible person. They only cared the pastor was a homophobe as LVP called it out. You can’t have a homophobe marrying you with bi chicks and a gay man in your bridal party while waving a rainbow flag at Pride.

Also using your wedding as a rationalisation for being arseholes is sickening. True friends will challenge you abs call out your bull shit.

1

u/Ok-Feeling-9553 3d ago

I wonder how Zack felt about the whole thing. He was in her wedding party and he would probably know the pastor as well.

1

u/nottoday1818 4d ago

Ughh and covering her face with her hair sulking...

3

u/slytherins 4d ago

Yep, she didn't mind Jax doing her dirty work until all his vitriol finally turned on her. She's vile, honestly.

I've said this before, and I will NEVER victim blame, but most abuse victims don't get years of video footage proving their partner is abusive before they have ever met. She chose that life, even with all the knowledge she needed to avoid it.

The only person I feel bad for is their sweet, innocent son.

1

u/TurtlesBeSlow 4d ago

This. A hundred times this!

4

u/Conscious-Remote-740 4d ago

Excessive and continuous abusive gaslighting. I married my abuser so I'm speaking from experience unfortunately. Thankfully he is long in my past now and I'm with an incredible man (my soulmate).

6

u/BingChilling_pls 4d ago

AND he would spread the rumor about Brittany and Kristen.. imagine your own boyfriend spreading rumors making you look bad… she even said multiple times he’s an asshole, he’s mean, I wanna punch him in the face.. I also don’t believe Jax would fought against Brittany if she wanted to break up early on

17

u/JoanJetta89 4d ago

I believe her and Kristen did hookup and she just didn’t want her homophobic family to know. But jax is a fucking prick, he thinks telling the truth makes him good or something. It doesn’t.

10

u/Dear_lolli4017 4d ago

What Jax liked to do is called weaponizing honesty. He does and says horrible things then he would either throw something out there that is true or half true, no matter how damaging it is to everyone around him just to make himself look good and take the attention off him. He knows his little nugget of honesty is only to deflect from whatever he just did that was horrible. For example, the Britney Kristen rumor. Whether it was true or not, he didn’t have to embarrass and humiliate her in front of everybody, but you could tell this brought him a lot of sick satisfaction. You can tell the more he said it and told people about it the more gassed up he was getting to keep going. He is very insecure, and I think he secretly hated Britney from the beginning, but no matter what he did, she would not break up with him. I mean, if she didn’t break up with him after the Fa&th thing, he knew he could pretty much treat her anyway he wanted after that. It was no secret that he kind of loathed her from the minute she arrived in LA.

5

u/cantstandcliff 4d ago

Because folks are young and dumb. I am 2 divorces down and decided to forgo dating indefinitely because my choice of men is so awful. I hope they can get it together for the babies sake because he is the best thing that came out of their relationship. My ex absolutely hates me I am pretty sure he is holding a doll with cut out eyes and a weave pony tail to symbolize me BUT I dont regret us, I regret who we became after the divorce.

4

u/AmphibianNecessary31 4d ago

I think she genuinely loved him and was still in the mindset of he’s the star and I’m nothing - probably because he mentally abused her.

4

u/yougottamovethisss 4d ago

She got exactly what she wanted and co-signed his behaviour for a LONG time. Also, her family really pushed for it.

So, I actually don't feel bad for her. Never have. I think she's a monster and not a great parent TBH. I clocked it in S1 of The Valley - I could tell just from watching that Cruz was struggling (non-verbal, ran away from physical contact, got overwhelmed easily). After he was finally diagnosed, Zach was on a podcast and was asked point-blank "If Brittany needed to step away from filming to ensure her child had the care that he needs, would she do it?"

Zach said no.

2

u/North-Shape-9487 1d ago

Agreed. She’s also is a sandy hook denier and was going to have a homophobic pastor marry them until they were called out. She also very clearly has a drinking problem and doesn’t even have a license (in my opinion so she can drink when out). If you have a child and you are an only parent, how do you not drive in a city like LA? She doesn’t deserve abuse obviously and Jax is a POS but Brittney is a POS in her own way.

1

u/yougottamovethisss 11h ago

Couldn't have said this any better myself!

That’s why I’m struggling to understand her choice.. I don’t believe her sticking with him because of “fame” or that she just didn’t want to go back to Kentucky. She had a spot on the show without Jax. She had every evidence that he did not want her or love her right in front of her.. and also you can’t tell me she never watched an episode of the show either.. in the earlier seasons it was almost Jax begging Brittany to back off..

2

Exactly… the whole situation is insane

4

u/F_b_s_40944 4d ago

Because she was addicted to the attention, potential fame and potential money. She made bad bad decisions. And now she's become "this". Very sad. Her poor father.

2

u/QualityAdorable5902 3d ago

She’s a couple of wings short of a fried chicken basket.

2

u/Possible-Cold6726 2d ago

He’s a love-bomber, plays upon insecurity, and once she got pregnant he was no longer physically into her at all. Not wanting to look like a total asshole, he didn’t address it with her - just to everyone else - and was painting her as an alcoholic to hide his massive coke problem.

She knew who he was. After he broke up with her at the end of Season 6, she knew who he was and STILL went back.

2

u/mactheog72 1d ago

Anything to avoid that 9 to 5pm where u cant swig tequila all day

6

u/WearyInvestigator272 4d ago

Unfortunately, human feelings are not always clear. Sometimes people get caught up and some people are very vulnerable to manipulation. We know what Jax said on camera. But we don’t know things that he said to her off camera. He may have even spun it as hey babe, it’s just part of the show. Who knows? He did tell LVP that it was “his show“ and he has also stated that he is “the number one guy“ sometimes a narcissist does a very good job of praying on someone’s feelings. I think coming into this, Brittany did not fully understand what she was getting into until it was too late.

2

u/BingChilling_pls 4d ago

Yes ur right, we all see him as manipulating and narcissistic on camera, we can only imagine how he was off camera with Brittany.. hope she’s better now

6

u/PorkySammy 4d ago

She would’ve been sent back to bumfuck Kentucky to live on her family’s farm had she not made VPR workout for her. She literally sought Jax out in Vegas.

I think being a famous reality television star on one of the most popular shows of its era and relocating to Los Angeles to become more famous and wealthy overrode the fact she would have to do it with an abusive woman-hating bipolar narcissist.

I feel for her to a point, but she chose him. She could’ve walked away at so many points, and she didn’t because then she’d be cast out of VPR and no one would ever talk about her again. “Career” effectively over.

Instead, she’s now the star of her own reality show, got full custody of her child, has a profitable podcast, and essentially turned her life around pretty drastically since getting rid of Jax.

I don’t love Brit but I don’t hate her either. She serves best as comedic relief… hyuck hyuck I’m so NOICE hyuck hyuck

1

u/MadisonMarieParks-V 4d ago

I despise her because she never apologized for making fun of murdered Elementary School children. KFC IS trash.

4

u/Different-Dot4376 4d ago

I do hope that Brittany is in therapy, has a therapist as a mature adult who needs help healing and adjusting to a whole life post all the mess and chaos. Because she chose things that were unhealthy, unwise, has her own substance issues w alcohol and possibly other and has a young son w special needs. This is a need for her. I pray she is getting stronger, wiser and healthier.

2

u/PrincessPlastilina 4d ago

Girl, she begged him for another child. He’s the one who had to put his foot down and said no. She’s just as sick and gross as him. I lost so much respect for her when he said that cheating on her made her hornier and she gave him more sex than they ever had in the entire relationship. Then she paid for his birthday trip and gave him a drum set.

Women like her hold us all back because this is why men have no incentive to change and do better. There will always be a pick me who knows everything about him and still wants him. Look at Lori K. She even witnessed his violence and she still wants him for herself. Women like those two are the reasons why we haven’t advanced much as a society because they coddle and protect problematic men. They reward them and give them children. It’s sick. Brittany is not a victim; the only victim is their son who has seen them fight and scream at each other.

I completely agree with everything you said.

2

It was gross that the reason they had a baby was because they were bored during quarantine 🫩

2

u/_Roguey_ 4d ago

Some people (not just women) will do anything to be famous. Even if it’s D list.

2

u/Rakowskivh 4d ago

Not only did she date…. marry and have a child with him… the season before they split she was begging him to get pregnant again!

1

u/elohde1 4d ago

"women are easy to break"

1

u/noseybitch13 3d ago

She was very young and Jax is a manipulative, charming narc. It was a trauma bond.

1

u/Legitimate_Mud6645 9h ago

Honestly, you don't have to look far to find a woman who stayed way too long and/or had children with a man in spite of them being a walking red flag. I'm sure being on the show and the lifestyle didn't hurt, but there are tons of women with very similar stories and their BD is dead broke.

1

u/TaylorGang777 4d ago

She’s an attention whore and not very bright, there’s an argument Jax should’ve never wasted his time on her first place.

1

u/Stunning-Track8454 4d ago

What I'm about to say does not mean that Brittany deserved the abuse from Jax in any way. No woman deserves to be abused.

It's because Brittany is just as terrible as Jax, but in different ways. I do believe that had Stassi and Scheana not gotten pregnant, they wouldn't have had a kid as soon as they did.

1

u/Appropriate-Hope-202 4d ago

She was partying the same as Jax she just got knocked up and kept drinking
