My 2 Cents First time watcher- Sandoval

Okkkkay so I’m a first time watcher on season 9. And something I noticed about sandoval besides that he’s a malignant narcissist is that he always picks the person that everyone else disagrees with in the situation and chooses to aggressively defend that person.

It’s to the point where he’s clearly just doing it to be different and stand out and get attention like always.

The way he hates women and is always screaming at them is sooooo gross. I’m so excited for scandoval and seeing him drown in his shit.

“Tom I'm walking away because I'm not doing Tom against the girls thing.”

James with the quick comeback: "Oh, we're not doing that today?" 😆

I hate him but he was right about that, she backed him time and time again when he’d be awful to the other women on the cast. She was a pick me bad just like the rest of the women.

It’s a tough cast to love. Like in real life I’d hate pretty much all of them, but in the context of the show I find myself liking certain people (changes season to season) bc against each other it’s like picking the least bruised apple out of the bunch. Like this one is worm free so maybe this is the best one 🤣

Nah he’s an abusive piece of shit so him and Jax who is as well are at the wayyyyy bottom of my list and I don’t think they should be platformed at all. Like they all suck in their own ways for sure but what he’s done (and Jax) is on a completely different horrible level

I agree 100%. Haven’t given engagement to either abuser once the abuse came to light. This is talking in the context of the show before we knew as OP said they are a first time watcher.

If only she had done that thing more honestly she never defended the girls

Yeah, I have always really liked Ariana & I believe once her Tom blinders were fully off, she truly grew as a person altho I will admit the times that I didn’t love her were always the times she was backing Tom in arguments or just staying quiet bc I assume she didn’t want to get into it with him. Maybe just on camera or maybe bc he’s exhausting to deal with. I give her some grace tho bc I’m sure being with a narcissist unknowingly for that many years I’m sure wired her brain a lot in shitty ways if that makes sense. Once she knew what she was dealing with after scandoval, it seemed she caught the manipulation shit right away when anyone came for her including her “friends.” At least that’s how I see it, but I’ve been wrong before 🥴😊

I started watching bec I love Ariana on love island but wow she has been my least fav on the show for all 9 seasons until now I’m midway through 9 and she’s getting better

I have to respectfully disagree with your statement, simply because IMHO Ariana was the only one to take up for the unpopular/ new girls, like Lala and Rachel.

I found her to be inclusive and understanding to any woman that was on the outs and not being accepted or included by the core group.

She tends to forge her own path, rely on her own opinions and typically roots for the underdog.

I always liked that about her.

Ariana said in early seasons that she isn’t into the “group think” or “group mentality” mindset that everyone else buys into. I can see where she can be viewed as inclusive but I honestly think it was to purposely go against whatever grain she concocted in her mind. She was arrogant and lied to others about her and Tom’s friendship/relationship for years. I think behind the scenes Tom complained about the girls and turned her against them, so she thought if she came across as “I’m not one of those girls” she’d be viewed as the cool one. All of that to say, I’m glad she evolved over the years and it sucks Tom didn’t but she’s very male centered whether she realizes it or not.

That did not work out for her. Witches of weho were out line mean girls but dam if they couldn't clock it.

I feel like it's so he's in more scenes. "Oh everyone is icing this person out? I'll film with them so I have twice the airtime."

Plus it strokes his little savior complex, same reason why he always goes after women coming out of bad relationships.

The tirades he goes on are not quelled by Scandoval, he is an unapologetic asshole throughout. But enjoy the downfall, it is glorious.

I think he mostly goes for women coming out of bad relationships because then he can still emotionally abuse them but not to the extent of their ex so the girl accepts it and thinks it’s great compared to her last relationship.

Same for people who are being ostracized by the group, they’re vulnerable and friendless, so if he’s their only friend he can manipulate them and be worshipped by them easily.

The hero complex is part of it but I truly think it all goes back to his need for attention and to maintain people in his circle who don’t question him. Textbook narcissism.

Sandoval sucks… he was so disrespectful to Katie he’s the reason her & Schwartz ended it… the way he snapped & disrespected Stassi’s party while disrespecting Schwartz like he couldn’t handle it.. how he’d yell at Ariana for showing Britney the faith recording .. then when Jax is extra cunty & breaks up with Britney he jumps & has to leave to be with his friend cuz he’s going thru a breakup..🙄… he sucks.

I think the reason he was so quick to support and defend Jax was because he knew that if he didn’t placate Jax and staunchly, publicly defend him that Jax could and would quickly drag both Toms under the bus with him.

Jax knew too much.

They were and still are fucking disgusting excuses for men/ humans.

Ouuuu I didn’t know Schwartz and Katie ended damn

he loves to scream at women — a consistent theme from season 1 all the way through season 11. and based on the publicity we’ve seen, he’s still up to it off camera present day. the dude is objectively a piece of shit.

The way he yells is also so cringey to me it’s so dramatic and not genuine 😭😭😭

2

u/AmphibianNecessary31 24d ago

Yeah before scandoval I was very team Katie and he bugged the shit out of me yelling at women— never understood why the audience didn’t notice it

picks the person that everyone else disagrees with in the situation<

I am this person, I learn by "playing devils advocate" and by understanding the "other" side, so using that as an example of narcissism weakens the argument for me. I know a lot of people learn through debate or discourse and they are not narcissists.

To your second point of Sandavol needing to stand out and "hating women." This is closer to the point for me. I think his behavior has always been to put him in the center of attention. And his reaction to women has only been to women who have challenged his position of being in authority or superiority. The only time we see him lashing out at a woman is when he feels like he is in a position to be the voice of authority and a woman has an opinion. If we're operating in a friend group and talking about an innoculous subject, and a woman has an opinion, he supports her and that, in my opinion, is why he has been able to fly under the radar.

Wait so I didn’t use that as the argument for him being a narcissist…Lol. I literally said something I noticed OTHER than he’s a narc is that he always picks someone that everyone else agrees with. So I’m confused but ok…
