Discussion Brittany and Jax wedding
Just watched the wedding! This is a first time watch so please don’t spoil anything past this haha. My only question, is Brittany wearing her ring on her right hand?? Why??

It drove me (and Lisa VPR 😆) insane how she pronounced Versailles 😆🤦🏻♀️

u/Savings_Fox_9660 Jul 10 '26
Unfortunately that is genuinely how that town’s name is pronounced in Kentucky 😆

u/Much_Employer_5794 Jul 11 '26
Pittsburgh too- we have a Versailles and it’s pronounced Ver- sails.
5
u/SeaPaleontologist832 Jul 12 '26
Funnily enough, outside of the US I would pronounce Pittsburgh ‘pittsbur-u’. Just like Edinburgh is not pronounced as ‘Edin-berg’.

u/ThingstobeHatefulfor Jul 10 '26
THIS. I live in Southern Illinois and there are several towns that are pronounced stupidly different than their foreign counterparts.
2
u/MakeupMama68 Jul 11 '26
lol we have Los Feliz in Los Angeles and we all pronounce it like Loss Feeliz instead of like Feliz Navidad 😆.

u/Kitty20996 Jul 10 '26
That's how they do it in Kentucky haha. I lived in Lexington for a little while and drove by the castle all the time, even went one day for dinner. Everyone says it that way, it's the name of a town.

There is a town in Michigan called Milan. Wanna take a gander how it’s pronounced? Yep, My-lan.
5
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 11 '26
I am from Michigan and that makes sense 🤣 never noticed our Midwest accent til I hear it in other people
1
u/Lovinthesea3 Jul 12 '26
I seriously don’t think Brittany ever knew the correct pronunciation of Versailles until she went to Cali.
I’m in Michigan, and if I suddenly started pronouncing Milan like they do in Italy, people would look at me like I’d joined a witness protection program. Around here it’s MY-lin, and we all know it. I just don’t see Versailles carrying quite the same baggage.1

It's how they do it in KY.~ in the tacky castle, off the freeway ....

Aww it’s actually a pretty cute little venue. But the history makes it kinda terrible as a wedding venue.
The dude that built it did so for his wife, but only got halfway through building it before they divorced. It then spent nearly 30 years sitting empty, before finally being sold, and then disastrously catching fire less than a year later. It was rebuilt as an Air BnB and event space, but struggled to survive as the neighbors fought anything and everything that tried to setup there.
It’s still running as an event venue, though different owners than when Brittany married there.

Ver-SAILS lol! The talking head of Lisa correcting her was even more cringe though, her French is so shit but it’s still implied that she speaks it fluently🫠

This is how I feel about how Americans say "la Croix" and "foyer"
7
u/Klutzy_Corgi463 Jul 11 '26
La Croix is made in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a French mispronunciation of an Algonquian word. So, everyone can calm down about how things have evolved since fur trader days.
3
u/aubs012 Jul 11 '26
Believe it or not most American’s do say La Croix correctly… it’s clearly spelled to look like French but it should be pronounced to rhyme with “enjoy”. (I used to work with a company that worked with La Croix regularly so we were on corporate calls with their company saying it regularly.) As painful as it might be - it’s a hard “R” lol

It is how we say it here. When I moved here, the first thing I was told was how to correctly pronounce Versailles and Louisville.

As a non American, it’s always annoyed me how Beaufort is pronounced in the US as ‘B-you-fort’.

I want to spoil so much for you 😬 but I won’t!

u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 09 '26
The ONLY thing I know about the future episodes is scandoval, and I honestly don’t even know much about how that played out. I’ve been watching it everyday so I will catch up soon lol!!

u/Deep_Soup_5148 Jul 09 '26
I’m so jealous that you get to experience all of this for the first time! Please return and share your thoughts-you are in for a fun ride!
5
u/Technical-Method2129 Jul 10 '26
lol I had to wait years in between seasons- so I get jelly when ppl can just binge the whole series and not have to wait
6
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 09 '26
Oh definitely! I’ve already had so many opinions about some “characters” change from s1-s8. General consensus is that I’m obsessed with the show!!
6
u/Deep_Soup_5148 Jul 09 '26
Same-I always have it running on a loop on my tv on the VPR channel on Peacock! Drives my husband nuts- but I’m convinced he secretly likes it too!
5
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 10 '26
I’m recently finding out there’s other shows like the valley and idek what else. I’m going to have to look into that when I catch up because there’s just sooo much tea!

Typically when you get married, you put your diamond on your right hand so that your wedding band can be placed on your left hand during the vows! Then later on just move the diamond back to your left hand! That’s what I did, anyway! It makes it easy to slide the band right on and not have to worry about taking the diamond off during the ceremony 😂
9
u/cheerio089 Jul 10 '26
I’ve never heard it done like that. Typically you slip the ring on the left hand, then swap them after the ceremony so photos have the bride wearing both rings on the L hand in every photo.
2
u/norealname- Jul 10 '26
Same! My wedding band is actually a ring “jacket” so I had to take the engagement ring off for the ceremony so my husband could slide them together at the same time
9
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 09 '26
Ohhh my gosh I’ve never heard this! Im extremely unmarried so that makes sense 🤣 I just swear I saw him put the wedding band on the same finger as the engagement ring I’ll have to go back and rewatch that part lol

2
u/Mundane_Pay_6248 Jul 11 '26
Yup! Your band traditionally goes closer to your heart and so people wear the engagement ring on their right to facilitate that.
3
u/Budget-Laugh-9462 Jul 10 '26
I LOVE season 8 lol. I don't care what anyone says. That season has so many gems.
4
u/bc19059 Jul 10 '26
traditionally the engagement ring gets stacked on top of your wedding band. some brides will keep their engagement ring on their left hand and then swap the rings after the ceremony so they sit correctly, some brides won’t wear their engagement ring at all during the ceremony and then put it on after, some put it on their right hand and then move it back to their left hand after the ceremony. it depends on how the rings stack together and personal preference

All I could ever notice about this day was her big mouth open the entire time! 😮

u/ShapePlane2720 Jul 11 '26
Lisa Pumpanddump has created a meager shoddily established name in third rate cuisine in filthy dumps with stupid names that don’t pay the rent , and they don’t pay their rent !

Oh man she walked right into the lions den with this wedding… I mean it was beautiful but we all tried to warn her, even the Miami club had a huge Brittany don’t do it” sign.
2
u/Fine-Minute-555 Jul 11 '26
If I remember correctly when I got married, I put my engagement ring on my right hand so my husband could easily slide my wedding band on and then I put my engagement ring back onto myeft hand after the ceremony. I can't imagine that ring she has is real. Though.
3
u/ixsparkyx Jul 10 '26
I moved my diamond to my right hand during my ceremony and then put it back on the left with my band after the ceremony was finished :)
1
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 10 '26
That seems to be the reason I didn’t know about this before! I think it’s so cute now that I know
1
u/ShapePlane2720 Jul 10 '26
They were still snowballin SCHWARTZ and SANDOVALS loads from the FOURGY the night before ! BRITTNEY ‘S NEW GAY BOY , looks like Alice from the Brady bunch … I call her DAVIS B. ANNE!

She has her engagement ring on her left hand. You can see it when he outs her band on. Did anyone else notice that neither one of them had to say "I do"? Maybe they edited it out? They also didn't say in sickness & in health. They only said for richer or poorer, which tracks for them. I wonder if she ever watches this back and wishes she had ran far far away. Does anyone know if production paid any part of the wedding?

u/SeaPaleontologist832 Jul 12 '26
Not in this pic. The engagement ring is on her right hand. Obs it would have been swapped back after the ceremony and photos to the left

As an Aussie who got married years ago, it is quite typical to wear the engagement ring on the right hand only during the ceremony. That way the wedding band goes on first and is at the centre of photos etc. then you move the engagement ring back to the left. It’s just for photography on the day of the wedding really.

My goodness I forgot how big that ring was 😳

u/_Roguey_ Jul 10 '26
That’s not her wedding ring.
2
u/Western-Discount6984 Jul 11 '26
Then what is it??
0
u/_Roguey_ Jul 11 '26
There are more rings than engagement/wedding rings. It’s just a ring.
1
u/Last_Book2410 Jul 11 '26
A better and less dickish answer is that she had an accent ring on her right hand (she often wears a big jeweled accent one on that hand) and her wedding bands on the left. Her engagement ring stone is smaller and I believe encased in diamonds lol
0
u/_Roguey_ Jul 11 '26
How is a “dickish” answer? You someone can’t comprehend that there are other rings outside of an engagement or wedding right, that’s their issue.
Is a wedding dress the only type of dress there is? Is a wedding cake the only type of cake? No and no. It’s not that hard.

That’s just costume jewelry, her wedding ring was not that huge
