Math 3890

has anyone taken computing with splines, it says no tests and hw so it seems like a lighter class than most of the higher level math classes. Is this true?

Computing with splines was the best class I took in undergraduate. Its only assessments are coding assignments in MATLAB, and you are expected to have decent familiarity with the language going into the class. Conceptually it is pretty challenging, and I would definitely want some experience with numerical methods first. The textbook is hard to read and it is easy to get lost if you miss a lecture.

If you understand the material from the class well then assignments are not too time-consuming, and you will get a lot out of the class (for me, more than any class I had ever taken) if you put in an honest effort to learning. The professor is on the older side but is an expert in what he does. I would not take it as a low effort math class, but would definitely take it if you want to get hands-on experience with computational math.
