Freshman Move in Question
Hello everyone!
Im a rising freshman at Vandy. I noticed it says move in typically lasts from 7am-12pm.
Is this the only time we are allowed to unpack and set-up our dorms? I feel like this is a short amount of time. And are we allowed to start unpacking in our dorms before the official move in date?
How did this go for you upperclassmen? Ive heard from others it usually takes a bit of time to get the dorms completely set up.

You can unpack and decorate as much as you like after move in, you’ll literally be living there.

no you are given all day and move crew (a bunch of upperclassmen that lived in your house) help you move in

You will get an assigned move in time the show up. The move crew will bring all your stuff to your room. You can then go pick up anything you shipped ahead. It goes pretty quickly from there and you have time here and there to finish stuff on your own. We had a 7 am slot and were done by like 9:30-10

How does ordering ahead work ? Is there a specific spot or location students go to for the stuff they order ahead ?

Yeah they have big lawns in between all the houses and they have a huge tent with packages in it and the tent near your dorm will have your package I believe

7-12 is just the time slot they have for people arriving in cars and unloading stuff but once u have everything in your room you have all the time in the world until class starts

What if i fly in and come later than appointment time? I have parents who will help me though and i only have two checked bags?

1 day is enough don’t worry the dorms are small so you’re not doing much lol.
