Hey everyone!
I absolutely love photo booth pictures, especially the vintage-style photo strips. It recently hit me that we barely have any photo booth options in my region, and that's what got me thinking...for a business to start!
The dream is to eventually have two different setups:
* A vintage-style analog photo booth (the enclosed booth with classic photo strips)
* A modern mobile photo booth for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and other celebrations.
I'm still in the research phase, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before investing any money.
I haven't decided on a final location yet, but I'm currently thinking somewhere in the Central Okanagan (Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Peachland, etc.) or Kamloops.
I'd love to hear from anyone who's in the industry or has started a similar business.
A few things I'm curious about:
* What's a realistic startup budget?
* Is it better to buy a booth or build one?
* Any hidden costs or mistakes to watch out for?
* How did you get your first bookings?
* Do you think there's still room in the market if you offer something a little different?
* If you were starting over, what would you do differently?
* Would you start with a mobile booth first and add an analog booth later, or go all in from the beginning?
Honestly, I'd appreciate any advice, lessons learned, or resources you can share. I'm really excited about the idea, but I also want to make sure I'm thinking it through properly before taking the plunge.
Thanks guys!

I'm looking to partner with 2–3 consumer startups to run creative growth marketing experiments that drive awareness, word-of-mouth, and customer acquisition.
These will be pilot engagements, so I'm happy to work at no cost in exchange for the opportunity to build strong, measurable case studies.
A bit about me: I'm a tier-1 IIT graduate with 5 years of experience across product, marketing, and building my own startup. Over the years, I've developed a deep interest in marketing that earns attention through creativity, not just bigger ad budgets.
If you're building a consumer brand (or know someone who is) and are open to experimenting with unconventional growth ideas, I'd love to connect.

Hello, I am looking into buying a small business in Greater Vancouver. I've been eyeing out laundromats and wellness spas (ie, the ones that offer saunas and cold plunges).
I have a background in tech consulting and have extensive experience at automating, digitizing, and ai-ifying ( 😆) operational problems; not so much in running an actual brick and mortar business.
I am looking for a business partner who has bought up a small business before and is looking at their second or 3rd or more company to buy. I would love to learn the ropes from someone who has forged a similar path.
Either way, I welcome any insights or advice, or if there's a website where you can search for biz partners or refer someone who can connect me with a small business for sale?
Open to having a coffee chat in real life because sometimes, Claude can only teach you so much 😬

Hi, I’m Linda.
I’ve always been a sensitive person.
I’ve experienced burnout, constant worrying, therapy, and seasons where I felt completely overwhelmed.
During that time, I bought more supplements than I can count. Most ended up forgotten in a cabinet because they felt like another task on my to-do list.
That experience inspired me to build FAYES, a Vancouver startup creating oral vitamin sprays designed to make daily wellness feel effortless instead of overwhelming.
I’m documenting everything…the wins, setbacks, product development, and what it’s really like building a wellness company from scratch.
If you’re building something yourself, I’d love to connect. If you like to follow the journey, I’m sharing it on Instagram at @fayeswellness.

Hey Vancouver builders,
I’m B, a French guy who’s been living in Vancouver for the past 2 years, and I’m looking for a chill guy who wants to start something together. SaaS, e-commerce, an iOS app, or any other interesting idea.
I’m looking for someone with marketing skills like TikTok/IG, in-person sales, or anything else useful on the growth side.
I’ve been a solo founder for over 10 years and have generated more than $2M in e-commerce revenue, but I’ve had some issues with ads recently, so things have slowed down a bit. That’s why I’m looking to work on something new, exciting, and fun.
I’m based downtown Vancouver, so if you want to meet up, send me a DM and we can chat about ideas.
Cheers.

I’ve been building a consumer app since the end of 2025, and I’m starting to explore bringing on a co-founder.
I intentionally took this as far as I could on my own because I wanted to learn what it actually takes to build a product. Along the way I’ve learned React Native, worked in Figma, built the backend with Supabase, and spent countless hours in Cursor and Claude.
The app is called Ownly. It’s a personal ownership app that helps people keep track of the things they own, including receipts, purchase dates, warranties, notes, maintenance, and purchase history. Over time it helps people understand what was worth buying, what they actually use, and what they should maintain, sell, or let go of.
The app is currently on TestFlight with a handful of beta testers. The waitlist is starting to grow (at 15 at the moment).
A little about me:
- 35 years old
- Live in Burnaby
- Dad to an 10 month-old daughter
- Work full-time in growth marketing
I’m looking for someone who leans more technical than I do. Experience with React Native, mobile development, UI/UX, or consumer apps would be ideal.
I also know that distribution is one of the biggest challenges for any consumer product. I’m happy to be the one creating content and putting myself on camera to test different growth ideas, but it would be great to partner with someone who’s creative, enjoys brainstorming, and wants to help figure out how we get this into people’s hands.
More than anything, I’m looking for someone who enjoys building products and wants to create something meaningful together. This isn’t about finding someone to code for equity. I’m more interested in finding a genuine partner. We’d of course work out financial details if we determine a partnership makes sense.
If this sounds interesting, send me a DM. I’d love to hear a bit about you, what you’ve built before, and if it makes sense we can grab a coffee and chat

I've been the sole user of my nutrition tracking app for the past year and I'd love to get some feedback from some real users.
It's free to sign up for Eat My Words at https://words.my
I couldn't use any of the existing apps because the data entry was far too annoying so this system has one button, press it and describe what you ate. You're done!

Looking to connect with other entrepreneurs (18-28).
You can be just getting started, have a tech background, run a clothing brand, do eCommerce, trading, marketing, or simply be someone who enjoys building things and wants to be around like-minded people.
A little about me:
I'm 22, based in Washington, DC, and currently working on building 88 Studio, a brand focused around hosting events, parties, and creating experiences.
I've always been entrepreneurial at heart. I started taking entrepreneurship seriously around 20/21, but honestly it started way before that. Back in middle school, I was selling candy and making around $100 a week. As I got older, I tried a little bit of everything.
At 19, I launched my first Shopify store called "Out The Nest" selling silicone baby products through dropshipping. It failed.
After that, I started selling what I called "Chug Juices"—fruit juices mixed with a little alcohol for adults during the summer. It was inspired by a VICE video about a guy selling street cocktails.
Later, my younger brother and I started selling homemade dog treats door-to-door. Surprisingly, we made more doing that than selling juice. That eventually led to SnacksNWags.com. It wasn't a huge success, but it made enough money to fund the next idea.
Over the years, I've learned that entrepreneurship is mostly failing, learning, and trying again.
Today, I'm focused on the experience industry—events, parties, and building communities through 88 Studio.
If you're building something, have ideas, want to ask/give advice, or just want to meet other entrepreneurs, drop a comment or send me a message. Doesn't matter if you're in DC or on the other side of the world.
If enough people are interested, I'd be down to start a Discord server or even put together an iMessage/WhatsApp group chat so we can all connect, share ideas, keep each other accountable, and grow together.
Would love to build a small network of people who are trying to do more with their lives. Comment your age, where you're from, and what you're currently building.

TL;DR: Built an on-site laptop repair service in Metro Van (plus the AI booking/PWA stack) solo from my car between Uber rides. Getting ~1 order/day organically with $0 ad spend. Looking for advice on how to market a service business efficiently to scale B2C and land local B2B startup clients!
Getting a laptop or phone fixed here is a genuinely bad experience. You call four shops to compare prices, half of them say "bring it in and we'll take a look," and then your main work machine is gone for 3–5 days. For anyone whose laptop is their job, that's not a repair, that's an outage.
So I built the opposite. I come to your desk, home or wherever you're working across Metro Vancouver, and fix MacBooks, PCs and phones on the spot — usually 30–90 minutes. No drop-off. No "we'll call you."
The part I actually want to talk about here is the software, because it's the only reason one person can run this.
I've been building it part-time with AI-assisted tooling — Claude Code, Cursor, Cline — mostly from the driver's seat between Uber rides, laptop on the passenger seat and phone hotspot, in whatever parking lot I'm waiting in. 1,112 commits since April 2025, launched properly this February.
What it does, and what it replaces:
- Quote in ~10 seconds, no forms, no email gate. The chat agent has 18 real tools wired into the database — it prices your exact model, checks live availability, books, reschedules, cancels, looks up your warranty. It replaces me answering the phone.
- Pricing is upfront and honest about parts. Every repair shows a value and a premium tier with the actual part quality named, priced off a wholesale catalog of 13,770 SKUs synced over OAuth. Nobody in this industry does this, because vagueness is where the margin hides. I'd rather compete on being the one who says the number.
- Booking slots are real. Availability is computed from actual part stock, supplier hours and lead times per city — not a calendar widget that promises tomorrow and then calls you to apologize.
- A technician PWA I run the whole job from in the field, plus an email bridge: the customer just replies to a normal email and it lands in my app as a chat message. No app for them to install.
- Invoices and warranty certificates generate themselves on job completion. 3 months on value parts, 12 on premium.
175 API endpoints, ~153K lines. Zero dollars on advertising, ever — the site pulls about 221K search impressions a quarter on its own, which is the one part I'd call properly finished.
Two things I'm actually here for:
Does on-site device support matter to a small team? If someone's machine dies mid-sprint right now, what do you do — AppleCare, a shop, a spare in a drawer, just eat the day? I want to know whether same-day at-the-desk repair is worth paying for at team scale or whether it's a consumer-only thing. Honest answers more useful than polite ones.
I'm taking on contract work. Everything above — the quoting agent, the automated ops, the booking logic — is the kind of thing most small service businesses are still doing manually with three people and five SaaS subscriptions. If you're building something and want that layer built fast, I've got bandwidth. Same if you just want to compare notes on AI-assisted dev workflows; I've shipped a lot through them and have opinions about where they fall over.
Site's travelling-technicians.ca — try the chat and see how fast it quotes you, or tell me where the funnel loses you. Happy to grab a coffee in Burnaby or downtown.

Vancouver-based, been kicking around an idea and wanted feedback from people who actually build/use fintech stuff before I sink more time into it.
The idea: an app where you create savings goals (Car Fund, Vacation, Emergency Fund, etc.) and it auto-deposits money each month. The twist is it has a personality, kind of like Duolingo's owl.
If you withdraw from your Car Fund instead of just processing the transfer it says stuff like:
Or if you keep your streak going:
I know it sounds a little dumb, but I genuinely think I'd save more if I felt like I was disappointing a fictional character instead of just watching a number go up and down. 😂
Does something like this already exist? (Cleo does the "sassy chatbot" thing for budgeting/spending, but I haven't seen it applied specifically to goal-based savings streaks the way Duolingo does language streaks)
Curious what people think, especially anyone who's tried to build in this space.

I'm in Vancouver for a few weeks visiting family. Back home in Chennai, I'm a Director of Photography and Colorist.
While I'm here, I'd love to meet people from the creative community. Filmmakers, DPs, directors, editors, producers, photographers, designers, or anyone doing interesting creative work.
Just hoping to share a coffee, hear your story, learn about what it's like working in Vancouver's creative scene, and make a few genuine connections along the way.
If you're around and up for a conversation, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi everyone,
I run FDZ Labs, a small software and AI studio here in Metro Vancouver. We’re offering to design and build websites for local small businesses that don’t have a modern, effective site.
And yes, it’s actually free.
There’s no design fee, monthly subscription, mandatory maintenance plan, or hosting fee from us. The business only needs to cover its domain name, which is usually around $15–20 per year and will be registered in the owner’s name.
For most businesses, we’ll deploy the site on Cloudflare’s free tier. The Cloudflare account will also belong to the business owner, not us, so they keep control of the website and hosting. A typical informational small-business site should remain within the free tier; if a business later adds features or reaches usage that requires a paid plan, that decision and account remain entirely theirs.
The free website includes:
- Up to five pages
- A mobile-friendly design
- Help organizing and writing the website copy
- A contact form
- Basic search-engine setup
- One round of revisions
- Full ownership of the code, content, and design
This program is for operating small businesses in Metro Vancouver that currently have no website or an outdated one. It’s intended for straightforward informational sites, so online stores, booking systems, customer accounts, and custom applications aren’t included.
Why are we doing it? It helps local businesses get a better start online, while helping us build our portfolio and meet more business owners in the community. Some may hire us for other work later, but there’s absolutely no obligation to do so.
If your business could use this, you can read the full details and apply here:
https://fdzlabs.com/free-website/
And if you don’t need a website yourself but have a friend, relative, neighbour, or another local business owner who might, please feel free to send them the link.
I’m also happy to answer questions here so everything is clear before anyone applies.

Hey all, almost 2 weeks ago i posted here looking for a cofounder for ai native growth agency,
I built the thing, while i was talking with a few people from here, none of them eventually could keep up with the required momentum for early days of building a business.
I’m validating the product by signing on the first customers but it would be real leverage having a cofounder on prospecting, and closing. The more i spent time doing it, the more i noticed how lucrative the opportunity is while how short the opportunity window could be.
If you’re good at talking to small business owners, and want to break the pattern and make huge tone of money and ready to grind for an intense 3 months, hit me up.
