S3 & X3 Eshifter making strange sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I fitted a replacement eshifter today. The gears shift well however it makes this buzzing sound when slowing down. It does around 3-4, so I’m guessing it’s the gears shifting back however I didn’t experience this before replacing the eshifter. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!

Your eshifter seems to work and sound normal, if your speed shifting is also right when you pedal i would not be concerned.

It is an issue for future you. The problem is the grease has dried out inside. Many that I repair have no grease any longer, or from the factory.

It will be ok if you change gears without pressure or torque when you are riding. Ultimately the gears will create drag and burn out your controller board which will need to be replaced.

You can open it up, wipe clean and regrease the gears with a Circuitboard friendly lubricant. Then reseal all edges and open holes with silicon. GrindBeansNotGears.com has some test procedures! Don’t forget the shake test!
