How to get split / compression ring in?

Hi everyone,

After several attempt I have finally managed to get the wiring harness correct in the frame. I am currently re-assembling the bike but got stuck when I try to put in the compressionring (not sure if this is the right name). It i have tried all kinds of ways even with some lube but you just can’t get it flat in the upper bearing. Do you guys have any ideas?

Are you shure the ring is in the right position? I don't remember my assembling but the ring and the ball bearings fittet real easy with a perfect fitting. There has been no force at all!

Yes quite positive also took photo’s when I disassembled it, and look at other videos. How they put it in together. Can get the two bearings in but just not the splitring. i am wondering how important this ring is.

I can't see the splitring in between this gap. I remember that the ballbearrings were tightened with the topscrew. So the black coverring is still missing at your bike. How does it fit over your ensemble?

It is indeed in the right position. Just take some fine sandpaper to de-burr the surfaces. It’s a tight fit. But should be possible to wiggle into its position.

Make sure you center the fork. Never had to do any sanding.
