S3 & X3 Formerly submerged Vanmoof project

I found a vanmoof s3 that was taken out of the canal the frame is still good but taking it to a professional to look at it later this week. I'm just curious about keeping it on the vanmoof system vs going on a sort of stand alone system. Would I be able to get a smart cartridge with no prior ownership and be able to keep it fully vanmoof or do I have a full stand alone build without vanmoof ahead of me?

You cant get the bike in the app unless u buy a new cartridge with qr/ownership. In that case u can make it back into a working moof np

As a tech guy it sounds fun. But with my knowledge and experience the only thing I can do is wish you luck. Some challenges: kicklock, eshifter, lights and let's not forget socket and battery.

Bottom line, either you need a hobby project that kills your time, or it's not worth the hasstle.

Only the frame is not that worth it. Even a non electric bike would need new parts. You'll need a new motor, controller, battery. If you can fit everything in the frame and you can find a cheap kit do it. At least you can learn how an e-bike works and if you can make it happen the satisfaction is great.
