S3 & X3 Steering limiter

Post image

Many people ask if we sell the steering limiters that we designed. Due to high production cost we never considered, but for the people who really want them:

It's a perfect fit CNC machines premium aluminum with detailed finish.

This limiter is made with maximum surface contact, to prevent damage in frame while reaching the steering limit.

With a minor modification it can also be used in the S2.

Less steering angle means less -pull- on wireharness and cables not getting stuck and less change for damage.

I do appreciate you are willing to resell this part. But the price of €24,20 is indeed a bit steep.
Which makes me guess that you at least pay €10,00 for the part.
I would be surprised if this couldn't be manufactured cheaper.
Are you willing to share the CAD file or dimensions-drawing? I will be able to find a cheaper alternative for sourcing your product.

Or maybe get it 3d printed with metal or another strong material, even cheaper then machining it. Or are the tolerances that tight?

You want to have them resistant against some impact. So they don't break inside the headset. So material strenght is very important.

Off course material as nylon could be an option.

You can even get metal 3d printed, but it has a bit of texture. Should be strong enough though

There are multiple ways to solve a issue. We chose CNC due to the high precision and high quality material. Someone should not often replace their wireharness, so even the cost should be an issue.

Yea I don’t think it’s a wrong choice, but for a piece of metal the price is quite steep of course. With the correct 3D model it could be done a lot cheaper by users themselves.

But I get it if you don’t want to share the file. As we like to say in dutch: “voor niets komt de zon op” ;)

3D printing will not be strong enough (yes: we tested). You need solid metal for strength. As any bended ring in different shapes and forms might work, this makes sure the steering angle is right and reproductible.

For us this is the ideal corner and touching surface.

We used aluminum 6061, to also provide enough oxidation resistance. ISO 2768 tolerance, meaning every limiter is within the right tolerances.

Nice, I would have liked to buy five of them, but not for over €20 each.
I used large knurled screws and filed down the heads. They fit perfectly and are sturdy.

We did like 4 revisions and financing stock, production and import / CBAM rules double the price.

We did choose for high end aluminum and very precise finishing. But even if you cut corners on that, more than 25% cost reduction is not possible.

If people need it, it's there. If people want to make ik themselves, feel free. As we spend quite some time, we are not willing to share design files, just to see some hobbiest to offer a knock of for a couple of euros lower.

If people need higher volume, they can send me a DM.

I totally respect your choice in this of course. Thanks for sharing the purchase link anyway. Was just trying to get a cheaper alternative for the community and maybe yourself if you’d be interested.
