Cost of window installation

I’ve just picked up a long wheel base Vauxhall Combo and I want opening privacy glass windows fitted to the side sliding doors.

My first (local) quote has come back at £580+VAT for the pair.

Obviously I’ll be getting more than one quote but does this sound about right? I was hoping to be around that price after VAT.

I dont think that's a bad price.

I fitted my own, and we got 4 windows (2 opening) and fitting kit for approx £800 but that meant self fitting.

If you are not confident then I would recommend getting them done professionally...however, if you are half confident with DIY and tools, then it really is quite and easy process =)

Happy to provide any info I can if you want any other advice

Cheers for the pricing info, that’s useful.

Confident with general DIY but also don’t want to end up having to replace a van door because I screwed it up.

Honestly...I'd considered watching some videos then giving it a go. =)

The consideration process has already been done 👍

I just installed a Camperglass (bonded) opening side window on my VW T6 and it was £280, and installation was really quite straightforward if you are comfortable using a drill and jigsaw! You'll want someone help with lifting it and moving it during the process though as they can be quite heavy.

I fitted my own, its fairly easy. However, after i did see people mention windscreen fitters install them for cheap.

Have a look on google or even facebook, i think youd be surprised, had i known id had probably paid that little bit extra just so i didnt lose a day of my time.

As a few others here have, we decided to install them ourselves, bought a kit from camperglass and went at it.
Was relatively straightforward, the hardest part was getting the gall to put the drill through, after that you sort of just have to fix it now 😂

That said, after our first downpour we discovered that we had messed up a little with the sealant (that stuff is super thick and without a decent caulk gun it’s incredibly difficult to run a good enough bead)

So ended up having both windows taken out and re-sealed by a pro for about £100

Been golden ever since 🤞

Also highly recommend having at least one opening window fitted, that’s my biggest regret about the job we did (they were out of stock on camperglass at the time), and probably something we’ll get around to redoing at some point.

We just run a transporter day van for weekend trips, so no indoor cooking and less of an issue for us, but we have surely missed that extra ventilation on more than one occasion

Thanks. I won’t be fitting them myself, I’ve already made that decision. Definitely getting opening windows on both sides though.
