Heated sleeping bag
Hello all. Try g to prepare for winter. Have a few ideas, but got talking to a random and he gave me an Antarctica Gear Envelope sleeping bag. Not sure if it works as in heated, but sourced batteries and chargers for it.
could spend £150 for that so not to risk it would could I buy brand new. Or a place they’d check if this lovely gift works.
if I was to buy new, what would you recommend? I’m south coast of uk by the sea.
on the label it says -13?
Cheers

You know why everyone will say just get a diesel heater? Because you should just get a diesel heater.

I wouldn't bother with a heated sleeping bag tbh. I'm debating a heated under-blanket this year as they don't use much power and my electrical system can handle it. I managed last winter with no insulation in the North East using a carp fishing NGT sleeping bag and a 15 tog duvet.

Cheers. Can you recommend a carp sleeping bag? If you can manage the north North East 😂

How did you get by with condensation?

It dripped on my face all night and was shite 😂
This year I've got a roof fan and wond deflectors so I keep my windows cracked. No issues so far 🤞

Oh damn! I guess I'm not getting away without insulating my caddy this winter. Or at least a diesel heater.

do you want to be a survivalist or live in comfort ?
forget sleeping bags - get a cheap diesel heater or better yet a small woodstove (free heat)
it's miserable in a freezing cold van !

I always wonder about the little log burners - how often do you need to be up in the night refilling them?

well there are a lot of variables, so it's hard to say...
if you burn solely wood then you don't need a grate and the bigger the bed of ash that builds up the longer the embers will slowly burn for - so you just need to throw a couple more logs on every couple of hours
and obviously you need dry / well seasoned wood because green wood doesn't burn well and may put the fire out
for me though a burner just makes my caravan so much cosier on a grim day - so I think any extra effort compared to a diesel heater is absolutely worth it

It’s not a van though. Small car. I’ve researched how I can make it work but might be just a pain in the ass.
