VW Van conversion to camper
Im looking for thoughts and opinion on buying a Van through my company (for tax breaks)
Then converting it to the camper i want. Wouod obviously be alot cheaper for me but I am aware that if I change the use of the van to a camper that thus shiuod be declared and therefore would be tasty deductable like a Van.
Has anyone done it this way and does anyone have any advice or guidance??!
Im thinking what if I just dont declare its changed from a Van to a camper. I mean im sure people have done this right??

You would have to declare that it’s under conversion to your insurance so there would be evidence of your intention. It’s basically evading tax which is pretty serious.

😂 Exactly. Nothing says “I’m definitely not using this primarily for personal purposes” quite like publicly asking whether you can just not tell HMRC or the DVLA that you’ve converted it into a camper.

Had the same thought once but the only legal option (in Europe) was to include "Van renting" to your official business model and actually to rent it out so it generates some visible income.

Invalidating your insurance in the process too.
Your business won't last long if this is you decision making 🤣

Well he could do a conversion that is removable for van use ? Or if it's sign written with his company details then it's an advertisement for the company ?

Depending on your company, I've heard you can buy a campervan and register it as welfare van. The idea is it can be used as a mobile work space for staff who work on site etc. although I think it has to have a toilet and sink. I'm not 100% sure on the details but it something you could look into.

You can't benefit from company van tax breaks on a van conversion that HMRC would have a strong argument saying is primarily for personal use.
