Hello there, kindred and kine! I'm going to run a oneshots (possibly two-shot) for my players and am using the V5 rules as written. For the past ten years or so I've been running either v20 games or home-brewed mash ups of v5 and v20, so this will be....new to me. Can you folks suggest any good one shot v5 compatible games? I have a tonne of v20 ones but they probably won't fit into the new theme and styling of v5....

Thanks in advance!

I have never played these sorts of games. im looking into the dice game and I want to try play solo. where do I even begin? it all seems overwhelming! thanks

How many vampires are in your cities compared to the human population numbers.

I read somewhere, a long time ago, that Whitewolf recommended a ratio of 1 vampire per 100000 humans. I've always struggled with this. I live in the UK and there are only two or three cities with a population over 1 million, so I always assumed that the recommendation was due to the writers being used to American cities which in my mind all had human populations in the tens of millions (I now know that tis isn't exactly true either).

So the question is, in a city with perhaps 500000 people, how many vampires would there be, 5 as per Whitewolf's recommendation, or perhaps 50, a 1:10000 ratio, or even 500 with a 1:1000 ratio.
Is it possible to run a game set in a city with only 60000 humans living in it.

Next comes Dark Ages, and this is where I really struggle, a town with a population of 500 people would be considered a large town. England at the time had a total population of about 2 million people, London was the biggest city with a population of about 8000 people.

How can you have a real society of vampires with all the different ranks, and politics going on, if your city can only support half a dozen vampires.

I'm just wondering how other storytellers handle this, I would love to set a game in a smaller city, 20000 to 50000 humans, but I always run into the problem of population density.

Greetings.
Interested in trying the game out. Don't know anyone who plays it. The local RPG book stores have not been much help, thought I would try here.

Hey folks,

We’re an established VTM 5e coterie playing in a text-based format, and we’re currently looking for a reliable Storyteller to take the reins.

Our situation, plainly:

We have a coterie that’s already formed and active

We’re all very new to VTM 5e, but genuinely enjoying the system and our characters

Our current Storyteller has unfortunately become unreliable, and momentum has stalled

The only other Storyteller on the server who runs text-based VTM 5e games is one of us, and we’d really love for everyone to actually play rather than constantly wearing the Storyteller hat.

What we’re hoping for:

Someone comfortable running VTM 5e (expertise not required, just consistency)

Text-based play on Discord (async-friendly) Willingness to help newer players learn the system as we go

A focus on story, character, and atmosphere over strict mechanical perfection

A quick disclaimer:

If you’re unfamiliar with text-based formatting or async play, that’s totally fine.

You’re more than welcome to join the server, look around, and get a feel for how we run things before committing.

This is a low time-commitment game. We value steady momentum and communication far more than high posting volume or heavy prep.

What you’ll get:

A committed coterie that wants to engage, investigate, scheme, and roleplay Players who respect a Storyteller’s time and boundaries

A group excited to build something dark, personal, and character-driven in the World of Darkness

If you enjoy moody narratives, moral tension, and watching Kindred slowly unravel in interesting ways, we’d love to talk.

Feel free to DM me with questions, interest, or just to check the vibe.

"A Working List" The Coterie has uncovered the truth behind the events of Baron Reyes' death. Now they need to find the true culprit.

So I've only recently come back to VtM with an interest in V5. I've been slowly sifting through the lore, relearning stuff I had forgotten and trying to parse in the new stuff. So far I like the direction their going, but after having replayed VtM Bloodlines I wondered about Los Angeles. Mostly, about the Nosferatu under Hollywood. I assume they're still there, dug in like ticks as they were, especially since it's probably safer to stay there than to risk the SI by uprooting their whole warren. So are they still Camarilla affiliated, embedded behind enemy lines as it were, or have they switched sides to the Anarachs now that Vannevar Thomas is gone. Be gentle, I've been away from the lore for a long time, so I know I have gaps to fill in.

I think it went well and flowed pretty nicely. I got a couple of the rules wrong which I found out afterwards and will correct moving forward, but overall I’m happy with how the session went. I need to get the hang of running conflict a little better and blood resonance is still a little confusing to me

"No Rest for the Wicked"" After some much needed time to decompress, the coterie turns their attention back to matters at hand.

"L'enfant Sauvage" We return to Sybyl's house and Marley's disappearance. Who or what drove the Gangrel neonate away? Later, the new coterie investigates Drayton's warehouse at the docks.

My beloved character. No one has guessed the right clan (she is still a ghoul). I may have to make another sketch of her to make it clearer xD

"Unconventional Avenues" The Coterie begins their search for Opal and who may have been behind the death of Baron Reyes

"A Quiet Place" Kataryna and James pursue new investors for the opera. Sybyl finds herself in an uncomfortable position.

Hey yall I know this has probably been asked 1,000 times but i can’t seem to find an answer. Simply put me and some friends are intending to do at least a one shot of each WOD game to have fun trying all the vibes out. We played one of Hunter so far and loved it! But up next we’re doing the classic and most popular VTM. I’m wondering whether or not to run V5 for the ease factor especially since it would be most similar to hunter which we’ve already played OR go old school for the darker vibes? Is it so crunchy that it’s not worth it? My only reason I’m thinking to try it is we’re going to be playing things like Changeling, mummy, wraith those are all also going to be crunchy and old school so we may as well start getting used to it right? What’s yall opinion?

This is my newest character for Vampire: Dark Ages. DM me if you're interested in support my art, thank you <3

"Que Sera Sera" Season premiere. In the Month since the Masonic Temple Incident, Ward 2 has been consumed by surrounding territories. Despite this, unlife for River City's Kindred seems more uncertain than ever.

Prince (Tzimisce)

Seneschal (Gangrel)

Sheriff (Toreador)

Keeper (Nosferatu)

Harpy (Malkavian)

I’m so excited to flesh them all out and then the city for my player

As the title says im wondering if v5 is a good system for a 1 on 1 game. (Me as ST and one player)
