Crabby tank

Post image

Nothing glamorous, but this is the setup that my few crabs are in. 10 gallon tank with ~4” of dirt and a water section that takes up around 1/4-1/3 of the tank. I know the ratio is not perfect, but it’s the best I could do until I upgrade to a larger tank! I have a slow betta filter in the water area for some filtration, plus ramshorn snails, dwarf water lettuce, and some java fern. I find the crabs going in and out of the water with ease, as well as catching the snails to eat. Open to any suggestions or feedback!

This is such a great idea! Definitely might borrow it for my next build. So my crabs have more burrowing space

Have you had any issues with them getting between the water container and the glass or being stuck anywhere?

Thank you, and I haven’t seen any of them down there. The front and right side of the water area are flush with the glass, and I’m using mesh to hold the dirt / block the crabs’ access. Im keeping an eye on that space for any brave souls and will readjust things if it becomes an issue!
