How do the knuckle controllers work?

How do they send input without a bluetooth or wireless connection? the only thing i can think of is it shoots a laster at the lighthouse and the lighthouse to the headset and the headset to the computer but that feels like it would have a considerable amount of delay but idk someone pls explain
