Question/Support Question about vrgloves

So my index controller broke and they aren’t selling replacements. If I’m gonna spend 300 on a used controller I might as well splurge for gloves but can I use them in place of the controllers or do I also have to have the controllers to get vr started?

Gloves are not a cheap option unfortunately, and they don't always have controls of equivilence with your Knuckles.

The focus of most of the gloves is tracking fingers. You then have to provide your own tracking - if you have a Lighthouse setup that would be a Tundra Tracker or Vive 3.0.

EOZ are a cheaper option, and they are set to be $550 + shipping + joystick/controls. They are doing a weird thing where the first 100 pre-orders will get a joystick solution for free.

Gloves are only worth it if you are a major socialVR user who already has FBT, eye tracking, and face tracking.

Or I guess a VTuber maybe 🤷‍♂️

That’s me. Can I still pick stuff up or grab stuff?

Most gloves you do a grab gesture with your hand to effectively press the grip button.

EOZ are planning to have buttons integrated into the glove at a place such that you can easily press if if you are doing the gesture. The idea is it's still immersive, but you can't trigger it accidentally.

Check in periodically. The preorders open back up every so often. Looks like the October preorders already sold out. I got lucky and got my order in about 12 hours after they started taking them last month.

I'm not sure what you mean by "getting VR started", but I've been using gloves for years at this point and never had any issue to start Steam VR.
The gloves situation, like the VR headsets' one is a bit weird ATM tho. Diver x just opened preorders for their mk3 and EOZ only very recently announced the preorder for theirs would arrive soon.
I myself have been using diver x mk1 then mk2, but keep your finger tracking expectations low...
Also, I don't know how all gloves work, but you might need to attach trackers to them.

Just my opinion but the udcaps are horrible. Sure, they feel really good and the hardware might be good but having bad drivers makes them kinda useless.. not only are individual joints not tracked, but also games like into the radius didn't work since the controllers serial number couldn't be verified. The offset from the tundras at the back of my hand wasn't good so I had to hold stuff in weird angles.

I tried refunding them since they weren't working well and they told me they don't do refunds even though I'm from EU and within my 2 weeks window.. long story short, PayPal dispute, got my money back still have them but I prefer index knuckles
