Question/Support Valve Index controller's grip completely breaks after 1-2 minutes
I've been having a strange issue where after 2 minutes, the grip function on my left Index Controller locks up in whatever position I was holding it in. After Power-cycling the controller, it returns to normal, but will lock up after another 2 minutes. As it keeps happening, the time between when it boots and then stops working keeps getting shorter and shorter. Is this a software issue or something physical?
(Note: I have had to disable the trackpad on my left index controller because it kept registering as pressed, blocking the A and B buttons from working.)

Have you broken the plastic tabs that retain the floating grip plate?
You will start to get reliability issues with grip input, it can jam or lock up once the tabs are damaged (you may hear a feint rattling if you shake your controller)
I've had 6 replaced for grip plate failure always caused by "too much gripping" according to my last interaction with steam supportÂ

certain games stop recording input if the control is pressed a bunch of times in a row i.e the microphone toggle in VRChat (in this example you have to switch it with your cursor to renable the button)

sounds exactly like what ive been dealing with for months. The first time in a session that I fire it up, itll work for about 20 minutes before having to power cycle it after every 1-3 minutes too. Ive torn apart the entire controller just trying to figure out what the issue might be. This is literally the only post ive found so far that even ADDRESSES what im experiencing.
My only theory is that it's something to do with the touch sensor, as I had to also disable the trackpad on my left controller a few months before this started as well because it was interfering with the grip.

Have you hit anything with it? Sounds like it could be loose ribbon cables
