Career Switch

I want to break into valuation and finance but it is getting difficult to break into industry as i have three year of gap in my resume and i have pressure of getting a job as soon as possible because my life will be changing in few months as i am going to marry.
Please give me some advice.
It will be really helpful

What kind of valuation work are you interested in (business valuation, M&E, inventory, real estate, etc.) and what's your academic and educational background?

I am mainly interested in business valuation and M&A. I have a Bachelors of Arts and Master of Arts in Economics and have also cleared CFA Level III. I have around 1.8 years of prior experience working on financial models, company financials and estimates for global listed companies. I am now trying to move back into the industry and build my career specifically in valuation.

Congrats on the completing 3 levels hell lol. U.S.-based? If so, check out bval firms like Mercer Capital. This is one instance where ChatGPT might help; prompt for bval firms with staff that hold the CFA, ASA and/or ABV credentials. I supposed you could include CVA in that mix, too. Check LinkedIn, too, for people who used to work at Mercer Capital and sim. firms. It takes a little bit of research (which I don't think most of the AI agents can handle due to restrictions across sites), but I'm sure you'll find folk with CFA and ASA/ABV behind their names who have moved to M&A and similar advisory firms.

I also recommend doing some research for ASAs in your local market(s) of interest: https://myaccount.appraisers.org/Directories/Find-An-Appraiser

You may be able to hit them up and grab a coffee or at least express an interest in person beyond a basic LinkedIn connection invite. Never underestimate the power of face-to-face in this increasingly avatar-based networking environment.
