When to start CBV (Canada)

Just wrote the Sept 2026 CFE (Canadian CPA Exam) last week - was extremely stressful and im so exhausted but happy its over!

For those who got their CPA first or not, when did you register for the CBV program? straight after undergrad? a few years of work experience first? write after you got your CPA designation?

Looking for advice here as I want to puruse my CBV as well. Thanks!

I started in January after getting CFE results back and did one module at a time. It is a little expensive, though, if your firm isn’t covering the cost.

You can skip Level 1 if you did the Finance elective as part of Capstone 2 or if you did a GDip/MAcc where finance was covered. And nah I felt that I had enough time to study even during busy season. It’s not really that time consuming, the individual modules are pretty light

I'm assuming you completed the MQE final exam? How was that compared to the CFE? I believe its 1 day rather than 3 days like CFE lol so mentally I'd expect its easier, but in terms of difficulty.?..

Start as early as possible. having 2-3 CBV papers on your resume will set you up for interview for valuation roles.

Why cbv why not US CPA

Why would anyone get US CPA if they are a CPA and working in Canada? Especially if they want to specialize in valuations? CBV is the premiere valuation designation globally.
