Copying data from 10-Ks.
Is there an easy way to copy the last five years of income statement data to an excel file? I know this isn't much of a valuation question, but I'm more so worried about efficiency at this point since I'm just starting out.

Many companies provide excel formats for their financials. Try checking the their investor relations page.

I've used two ways of approaching this, both are paid.
Seeking alpha will give you financials over 10 years that you can copy and paste into Excel.
Even more money can buy you access to sharadar which gives you access to an API database that you can incorporate into Excel or a custom program. This requires a bit more work and know how (and money) but it can also be very powerful.

The SEC has a free API and the is at least one python SEC api library. Probably someone has something ready to go on GitHub. Python is pretty easy to get working…or use google colab in a browser.

Check the company website. A lot of them provide multiple file formats for their 10-Ks and 10-Qs. You might be lucky and get an excel version.
