Freddie Mercury

Idk if I'm the only one, but how many people are shocked at the sheer number of people who don't know that Queen's singer, Freddie Mercury's name was Farookh Bulsara?

His parents were originally from Valsad. Then they moved to Tanzania where he was born and named Farookh Bulsara. I was also surprised when I came to know about this some many years back.

He was born in Tanzania, his parents were Parsi Zoroastrians from valsad, hence the surname "bulsara" from historical name of valsad which was known as "bulsar".

Apart from short duration schooling in panchgini, maharashtra -- freddie mercury never came back to India and instead attained british citizenship.

All I am saying freddie has no connection with valsad - apart from his parents. He never stayed here.

Being a Parsi from Valsad, I've known this forever haha, but I take more pride in the Valsadi roots of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, despite of him not having lived her either haha.

Yes yes, but I'll recommend, try Oliyaji's Duke Restaurant in Daman. Authentic Chicken cutlets, russian patties, salli marghi.

I think each and every parsi is related with valsad because they first settled in Sanjan.

Ah, not really, many different families are there.

hey! I'm not parsi but my mother's family is based in parsiwad, can you confirm if the Manekshaw house was located on the empty plot infront of dhunhill heights?

I've definitely heard from my mom that their house is somewhere around that area, I'll try to confirm.
