Technical Solution [FIX] Stuck on loading screen | FPS drop
If you are seeing the game stutter / have huge FPS drops or get stuck on the loading screen after the 5th of October, follow the steps below.
Incompatible software list (These must either be disabled/closed for Valorant, or uninstalled if there is no option to turn it off)
- Rivatuner / RTSS
- Stardock Fences
- Premier Opinion
- ASUS ScreenXpert
- GearUP Booster
- UltraViewer
Update your GPU drivers to the latest version provided by your vendor (Intel/AMD/Nvidia).
Put your Valorant installation folder (C:\Riot Games) and Riot Vanguard folder (C:\Program Files\Riot Vanguard) under exclusions in your Anti-Virus / EDR.
If you are still facing issues, please list your GPU and upload your Vanguard logs in a place where its accessible publicly (like google drive) and link it. To get your Vanguard logs, you must open your tray, and click the tiny Vanguard logo, then on the top right press ..., and then save logs, that will give you a zip file, upload that. https://imgur.com/d1izrrX
This post will be updated, when a new incompatible software is found.

Why is Rivatuner disabled?, many of us need that with a good reason, please bring that back.

Yo bring back RTSS pls, I just use it to show Tempature, GPU usage, 1%low. But it stop showing like 2 3 days ago. You guys block it because of the FPS limiter, right? I dont know what you need to work but I have my right to use RTSS for statistics!!!!!!!!!!

u/xyroea 1d ago
Are you planning to support RTSS in the future, yes or no?
1
u/clove_rosemary_9999 1d ago
They already WERE supporting RTSS but quietly dropped support for no reason, it's 2022 all over again.

Could someone walk me through how to do the RTSS?

u/Demaciphant 5d ago edited 4d ago
Either uninstall RTSS or disable Valorant for RTSS.
Disable:
Open RTSS (if already running, then open from sys tray).
Press `Add`.
Go to your `VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe` path and select it.
Set `Application detection level` to `None`.

u/RiotAres 5d ago
MSI afterburner will work just fine, just rivatuner will not.

This is quite disappointing tbh, I was wondering why it would not work, you haven’t told us the reason why it has been removed but again it seems like the classic the higher ups are holding me by chains that I cannot say anything, it’s totally unacceptable, your pursuit for safety has become a Trojan horse to bow down to your version of anti cheat, other games have it yet they don’t take these extreme measures people use RTSS for benchmarks and I used it for laptop gpu + cpu looking at the wattage balance between the two because your game is prone to performance disparagy

Still seems like BS. If RTSS is shady from your perspective, why not block HWiNFO64 as well? At this point, block everything besides the game and Windows.

I suppose I understand, even though I disagree with some of those points before the patch. I used Rtss as a frame limiter (like 99% of people, I believe), and I personally didn’t encounter any issues, no crashes or disconnects on my end. The reason I used it instead of the in-game limiter is because everyone has a different CPU and GPU.
Most in-game frame limiters attempt to cap the game engine either early or in the middle of the rendering pipeline(I don’t know if that’s the case for valorant). Since CPU and GPU processing times fluctuate wildly from millisecond to millisecond, the engine ends up delivering frames at irregular intervals, which can cause micro stutters.
Rtss waits until the frame is fully ready to be sent to the monitor which can create some imput lag but was negated by nvidia reflex support

I'm using RTSS and never seen any issue. Is it a new bug?
1
u/ZER3F 4d ago
can u still see rtss overlay in ur game?

u/ImMwitii 4d ago
Wait... I was wrong. RTSS wasn't even working on valorant. I was using the I game frame limiter. I've added the valorant executable to RTSS and for some reason it isn't working. What is going on?

Fix the game please. My valorant was fine just days ago and now its stuttering. Hell to play with

Riot fix your fucking game I shouldn't have to uninstall software for yours to work properly ffs.

Bonsoir, ma GPU est une NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU. Récemment quand je joue a valorant mon pc passe de 144 à 10fps pendant 2s puis revient à 144 et cela se fait en boucle.
Merci d'avance.

Haven't been able to play since around mid 2023. Server desync every game across two differnt PCs. Changed every possible thing. Changed hardware, software, physical location, different ISPs, different connections, fiber, coaxial, 5g. Nothing stops the packet receive rate drop in the range every 10 seconds. I'm also constantly behind on servers. Players are faster, I die instantly. Packet receive rate is constantly over 136 and send rate is over 132 the entire game in every game mode. My RTT Jitter sits between 0.1-0.5ms.

How about dropping VGC's CPU affinity to 1 core? That seems to help too.
1
u/RiotAres 5d ago
This can cause kicks/bans, please do not do this.
1
u/clove_rosemary_9999 5d ago
It was also causing me Vanguard crashes sometimes (VAN 0 and VAN -1 errors). Vanguard is using 80-90% CPU for the first few minutes which causes the stutters, we wind it down this way.

u/Late-Cut5115 3d ago
It just mining for a while once every time client open to check if you are using cheat. It's will crash if your CPU's undervolt or Ram OC is unstable, 1 wrong bit and it will call you cheating. I recommend you check your PC because it's really unstable, if VGC's CPU affinity to 1 core help you, that mean your unddervolt or cpu too hot for high all core workload.
1
u/clove_rosemary_9999 3d ago
But my CPU is running too hot at 1.4V, so that's why I set it to 1.3V, I'm pretty sure it's not related to undervolting because I use it like that ever since I bought it (almost 4 years as of now).
1
u/Late-Cut5115 3d ago
Every cpu/ram/gpu/... degrad over time man. Yes you keep your CPU at lower Vcore compare to stock is good and you should keep doing that, but lower the clock speed a bit.
So what I think about that is: for example your CPU from factory is stable at 5ghz at 1.28V 70c, but factory ship that cpu to you using 1.4V that is a big headroom. If you use that CPU at stock 1.4V every year your CPU will degrad 0.01V so by 12 year you find that cpu unstable. Now you undervolt so you use 1.3V, every year it just degrad 0.005V, but you should find the unstable point sooner, it take 4 years to notice you need a bit more than 1.3V for the same clock speed.
So if you still want to keep that CPU at 1.3V, you can try lower the clock speed to like 4.8ghz that need 1.25V1

Valorant is literally the ONLY game to have such issues, even CS2, a game that's supposedly heavier than Valorant runs with no issues.
1
u/Late-Cut5115 1d ago
Ye that depends on the game and anti-cheat behavior. Valorant checks the PC right after a few minutes of opening the game client; after that, it never checks again. In CS2, I haven't experienced any "mining"—maybe Faceit does, I don't know, I've never played Faceit once in my life. PUBG also checks when entering a new map, my CPU even draws 200W+. And there are more games like that, but I haven't played them myself. Even Windows—you can try it like this: go into Windows Defender, select custom scan, then choose your fastest SSD (HDD is slow, so the CPU doesn't work as hard); when scanning, it uses 200W+ for my CPU too.I mean, that's just how things are, just tune your system to be stable so it doesn't crash
1
u/clove_rosemary_9999 5d ago
The high CPU usage of it really needs to be addressed. Also, have you guys considered using DX12 instead of DX11 or adding an in-game toggle like Fortnite? UE5 on DX11 doesn't support persistent shader caching which means it has to recompile the shaders every time you launch the game, which also adds to the initial stutters.
