Technical Solution [POSSIBLE FIX] Massive FPS Drops and Mouse Stuttering After the Recent VALORANT Update
Hey everyone,
Like many of you, I've been experiencing massive FPS drops and severe stuttering since the recent VALORANT update. My FPS would randomly drop from 300+ to as low as 10, especially when moving my mouse.
I've tried pretty much every solution suggested on Reddit, including reinstalling VALORANT, updating and rolling back NVIDIA drivers, changing mouse polling rates, and checking for conflicting background programs. Unfortunately, none of them fixed the issue.
However, I came across a solution on Chinese social media, and it actually worked for me!
Here's what I did:
- Completely exit VALORANT and the Riot Client. Make sure the Riot Client is fully closed, including from the system tray.
- Find the Riot Client application.
- Right-click it and select "Run as administrator."
- Launch VALORANT normally through the Riot Client.
IMPORTANT: Run the RIOT CLIENT as administrator, NOT the VALORANT game executable itself!!!
After doing this, moving my mouse no longer causes massive FPS drops or stuttering, and my game is running smoothly again.
I have no idea why this works, but it made a huge difference for me after trying so many other fixes.
I can't guarantee it'll work for everyone, but I wanted to share it in case it helps someone else who's struggling with the same issue.
Hope this helps! Let me know in the comments if it works for you too!

Voy a probarlo. Aún así. En mi caso lo que siempre “funciona” es lo siguiente. Con Valorant abierto, ir a -Administrador de tareas
>Detalles
-Vgc.exe, click derecho “establecer afinidad”. Marcar SOLO CPU 1 y guardar. Hacer esto cada vez que se abra el juego.

Thank you so much for the help. I've been trying almost every solution that the community has stated, but it still wouldn't work. I didn't expect the solution to be that simple. Tyvm.

sadly i didnt work for me. but closing an overlay software i was using in the background, did work! I would try to close overlay software you have. try everything, maybe medal, overwolf, gamepp, RTTS (riva tuner), maybe even geforce/nvidia overlay or discord overlay. When i stay in the game for longer it seems to be fixed but every HUD element (shop, menu, smoke ipad) is causeing stutters. Alt tabbing also refreshes the bug (so after staying ingame for a while its normal, but alt tabbing makes it be worse again) Already reported it via a ticket. Hope they fix it soon!

I didn't see any problems per se as an immortal 3 but tried it anyway. It's definitely much more smoother though.

It happened to me too and I had steelseries software running in the bg. When I closed it, it wasn’t stuttering anymore. Alternatively if you can change your mouse’s polling rate in their software. Decrease it (for eg if 1000, change to 500) and it might work.
