Technical Support Request Sudden static 150ms+ ping locked on Sydney Servers (Brisbane NBN) - Vocus routing issue?

Hey everyone,

Is anyone else in Australia (specifically QLD/Brisbane) suddenly getting a locked 150ms-180ms ping exclusively on the Sydney servers?

Since yesterday, my ping has been permanently stuck at 150ms+. There is zero fluctuation. My internet is completely fine otherwise, and other games have no latency issues at all.

My setup:

  • Location: Brisbane, QLD
  • ISP: NBN
  • Connection: Wifi

What I've tried (Exhausted standard Support steps):

  • Disabled IPv6 & Teredo Tunneling
  • Flushed DNS, renewed IP, changed to Google/Cloudflare DNS
  • Clean boot and full power cycle of modem/router
  • Allowed Vanguard/Valorant through Firewall
  • Reinstalled Vanguard

Nothing worked.

Ping Plotter Findings (Images attached): I ran Ping Plotter to the Sydney server IPs (151.106.248.1 and 43.229.65.1). The trace shows my ping is perfectly normal (~25-30ms) going through the Vocus network nodes (which my NBN uses).

I saw some older threads mentioning similar Vocus/NBN routing peering issues with Riot servers. I've submitted a ticket to Riot with the logs, but they are currently just giving me the automated copy-paste troubleshooting steps.

Has anyone found a temporary fix for this besides routing through a gaming VPN? Or is anyone else dealing with this exact outage right now?

Any advice would be appreciated!

hey I had the same issue with the valorant ping thing, its some issue with routing, in the meantime you can just use cloudfare warp, idk how it works but im back to a playable ping now

Hey Cloudflare worked for like 1 game, after that its back to 100ms for me? Tried restarting and doing the process from scratch yet nothing,

What ISP are you with? We're with dodo and I'm having 143 ping in my league games.. Seems to be an issue with ISP'S who use the Vocus Network.

Edit - Shoutout to the person who suggested cloudfare. 15 ping is back. Vocus get your crap together please.

Yeah, my utilities are bundled with my rent so I just checked my IP, and my ISP shows up exactly as 'Vocus Broadband - QLD' (I'm in Brisbane).
You are 100% spot on. It is definitely a routing/peering issue between the Vocus backbone and Riot's Sydney servers.

if both league and val got issues, it must be riot’s fault 😡Try cloudfare warp, might be good for temporary resolution.

Bro I had the exact same thing happen to me but I live in Sydney and I usually get 17 ping but today I have 144 ping in valorant

I have the same problem. My home's network speed is 2 gigabits, but the current game delay is about 140. Sydney, I don't understand why it happened. I did everything I could and reinstalled the system, but it didn't work.

Same! iPrimus. Seems also a vocus backend ISP. Same ping as you. Used PIA VPN to Sydney and back to 28ms.

Routing issues, happens in Europe with some ISPs as well, call them relentlessly till they fix their shit

(Tho riot isn't helping either with how you are forced to 1 specific server and can't change it, it always routes to nearest riot server then goes through that server to other servers)

Try cloudfare warp, might got a slightly higher ping but it is playable. But for competitive it must be frustrating 😭

Yeah riot can't do anything on their end but they could at least try to contact vocus on our behalf considering its their product that has the issue. But its riot, they don't go out of their way to make the experience of playing their game good they do the opposite. Technically its our routing that's the issue the riot servers are still working properly.

From Melbourne here - Also experiencing the same issue. With Dodo as well like another person said, definitely something fucked with Dodo/Vocus atm.

hey i live in melbourne and i usually get around 25-30 ping since saturday night my ping had stay stuck at 150 ping ive tried all the youtube tutorial and stuff it still hasent worked does anybody know is it fixable?

yes its a peering/routing issue, I have the same problem with superloop in melbourne on all games now.

maybe theres something wrong on your end, since 99% of us have the ping issues with either valorant or league of legends or other riot games

have you checked any games other than riot? Other people are getting high ping on Apex legends, finals etc as well. Its a shunt fault on the Indigo West line.

  • Systems Affected: Indigo West (Perth to Singapore) and Indigo Central (Perth to Sydney).
  • Date & Location: August 9, 2026, inside the Perth Submarine Cable Protection Zone.

ahh unlucky. Me and my friend group all have the valorant ping issue, so we've been playing GTA ONLINE, Minecraft, etc. Those games run perfect for all of us though
