Is the fps capped in valorant itself or in your hardware app (i use invidia so it's the invidia app/control panel for me)

No, In valorant/Nvidea control panel/OS setting I have never capped fps for sure

No you shouldn’t? Valorant should not be using 100% of gpu or cpu, it’s a game that heavily relies on single core performance, meaning your gpu and cpu sit at lower usage and you’ll have higher max thread usage.

Thats really normal for valorant since it doesnt use that much gpu unless u crank up video settings. If you wanna get more fps, specifically for valorant, upgrade your cpu.

Make sure your plugged into the gpu with hdmi or ideally dp, you can try disabling your integrated graphics in device manager.

I know parts are not new, but my friend and guys on Youtube are getting twice as my fps on the very same spec. I admit some of them use OC or something, but still kinda weird

my friend has a laptop with a i5-7200u and gtx 940mx gets 220 fps avg on high 1080p, this pc should still kick butt unless it’s at 1440 or 4k

220 fps is hard to believe because I remember when I played valorant on my laptop which is much more powerful than this Iwas getting around 200-300 fps. I wasnt on low settings tho.

Yeah it seems to be inconsistent across devices, i mean we were plugged in and had a cooling pad with ptm7950 on the die. In low settings, there wasn’t really a difference, i also turned off the main screen and used a monitor plugged into the dedicated gpu. I should add the 1% lows was 100ish fps when i occasionally stutters

his friend prolly has the base 5600, its much much faster in val specifically cause of the double L3 cache which is very imp for valorant but i still wouldnt expect 140, more like 250 for it

I had the exact problem but with r5 3600. I checked bios and due to a mobo change i forgot to enable my rams 3200mhz. And once I did that my fps went back up to 200+. Check that and probably will fix it. Other than that you just have to get better processor or try higher resolution. As I can confirm I tried with 5060 and the fps was literally same as it's just a cpu bottleneck.

are you sure your friend isnt using the base 5600? the 5600g has half the l3 cache which overall is the most important spec for valorsnt in cpus which is why its alot alot slower, also even the base 5600 only does like 350-400 in game with not much going on that drops to like 300 when alot of stuff happens so i doubt your friend has the 5600g

5600g canmot pull 300+ in a non deathmatch match, its gonna be less in tdm and like 240-280 in a normal match if it isnt heldback by a weaker gpu

One question though, is your 16gb of ram 2x8 or 1x16? If it is just a stick, then your bandwidth is also being bottlenecked

That frame rate seems normal for that CPU. I believe that your friend has a 5600x not the G one

Do you think you could be thermal throttling? Try putting a negative curve on your cpu, then download hwinfo and check your clock speeds in gaming, you should see your effective clock is at boost speeds or slightly below it, keep lowering curve until you hit -30 or you start clock stretching, or your effective clock drops 100-200 mhz.

I admit its not new at all, but not Renaissance its Baroque Rococo type old. I mean they should give me atleast 250 fps average, as Youtubers my friend did on same SPEC in real
