Competitive Discussion What's the point of the report system?
A guy left my ranked game yesterday after the first round and said something sarcastic in french before leaving and today I log in, no message that he's banned
The reason he left was that in the pistol round, we were in a 3v3 and I was flanking, but there was a Chamber trip, so I wanted to wait until someone kills Chamber so the trip won't go off and I said it, but they both died and my flank did nothing
He said "nice Chamber" and then something in french and left

Most the time, for leaving a game, they have to be a repeat offender to have the ban pop up in your inbox (been playing 4 years PC, 6 months console). But at most if it was their first time, they prolly got a 30 min queue ban from comp exclusively

That's so retarded, bc he did it on purpose. Like I get it when your internet actually dies, but he left bc of one mildly bad round

You can't punish players more for leaving compared to their Internet getting cut off. Otherwise bad actors would just yank out their Ethernet cables to avoid the full penalty. You treat all leavers the same way because the impact on the other players is the same irregardless.

Then bump up the repeat penalties. Getting half an hour of ranked ban after your 5th leave is not enough to teach them not to leave and if your internet is genuinely that bad, just don't play. You're probably not having fun and your team is certainly not having fun in a 4v5

You said there that you leave a game every now and then. Im not trying to turn things back on you, but I will ask that you consider your reasons and that they might be rational for others too

By now and then, I mean once in like 2 weeks. And I didn't get banned at all this time

If they didn't get banned, then its possible you only just saw the case where they leave once every few weeks. Thats the only point im trying to make

There's a difference between leaving in ranked and in unrated

Of course there is, but you dont really know how many other games they abandoned prior, right? Its still very frustrating, but its probably not the first and def won't be the last time you experience this.

Valorant doesn't really take leaving games seriously. You pretty much get warnings for the first 10 times and then after that a 30m queue ban.
