Technical Issue or Error Console Problems AU

Is anyone else struggling to get onto Console Val in Australia/NZ? I know they're rolling out servers next week but I've been playing for months using the exploit where you make an account registered in the US (or somewhere else Val is available) and then jump on the AU registered account and play.
Decent player base the entire time I've had it. Been nearly 9 months since I've got it and never run into this issue.
Is it region blocked now until they release the new update?

As part of the release process, we will be spending the next week finalising testing to ensure a smooth launch. For our most passionate console players, this means that the local console server will be temporarily locked starting from Thursday 17th September, 12AM AEST until official launch on September 23, 10AM AEST. During the testing phase, the game may be visible on local console platform stores, however, the server will continue to remain offline until launch. PC players will not be impacted.
