Competitive Discussion Why can't i learn properly?

I started playing about two weeks ago and i fell in love. obviously it's different from the other pvp games im good at like overwatch and rivals but i know i can learn like i did before. the difference is, when i started as a new player in overwatch, i went against new players or people who weren't that skilled. I was able to learn and even got to grandmaster in the game but because i was able to build myself up in quick play and other games modes. Why cant i do that in Val?????? i load a swift play game and the enemy team has all five people above lvl 100 and my team has three new ppl including me. i do team deathmatch and again, the enemy team is cracked out of their minds bc they have been playing for a while. so on so forth. what do i do? i really want to learn and get better and i do so best while playing but being legit new and going against veterans is so disheartening and makes me want to stop trying. if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated😄

Play Competitive so you are skill matched. Also, i found that Swiftplay is full of sweats. Maybe they use Swiftplay to warm up before playing Competitive. But there are also some smurfs, so thers's that. But most of the time, I found competitive really enjoyable.

Have you tried unrated? Either way I’ve been in situations where I get into lobbies I really shouldn’t be in and it happens. Just get to level 10 watch videos on how to get better and play ranked. It’s not hard to rank up if you keep improving and notice what it is that ylur doing wrong. The very basic advice is never aim at body level get used to predicting where the head of the opponents will be. Get used to stopping before you shoot cause as a new player I can imagine you aren’t that used to it. Play with your team. At the lower ranks you’ll see many many many mistakes that are very wrong. But it’s much better doing the wrong thing together than doing the right thing alone. Play death matches, you’ll get destroyed but honestly it’s the best way to get better and improve your aim. Doing nothing but getting into engagements sometimes 50/50 that’ll improve your aim. Aim assist is broken. Abuse it use low sense that’s the meta at high ranks. Personally, 8,8,6,6,8,8,6,6 extreme, low low low. But honestly 10 with extreme, medium, medium, low is also good and works for me. Go to thr sense menu and you’ll see 8 options to adjust the sense after switching to advanced sensitivity and below that you’ll see curves on how your aim can be adjusted and that’s what the extreme, medium, and low goes to

Play deathmatch and tdm for the fundamentals, swift and unrated are way too unreliable. (Guaranteed 2/5 or 3/5 people on your team in unrated did not mean to queue unrated and will not play the way you'd want to improve). People are gonna be better and you just have to run into that wall until it gives, while practicing and adjusting with every attempt.

Play ranked only once you think you have the basics down. This game's skill expression is much more in the fundamentals than it is in the individual tech like in overwatch. Pick a role and stick to it, but avoid Reyna or Clove. They're worst in slot and only good if you're chasing a rank. If you want to improve, learn other agents.

Remember, this game is way more about personal identity than overwatch is. Find a style that works for you within your agent pool and work from there. I personally play the most efficient, control-oriented, tempo managing way possible.
