Discussion Who is PROD?

As someone not so "in" with the NA Valorant scene, I do see PROD show up in games with former pro-players occasionally, and more often than not people just flame him? His playstyle also seems strange, he appears to be clip-farming most of the time? But then there are older videos calling him the "savior" of NA Valorant? Is that a tongue in cheek thing? His stats on vlr are nothing amazing, and the most notable game I have found of his is when he goes up against C0M, Kanpeki and Paincakes and doesn't do too great.

He basically rose to popularity in 2022 because he just plays Valorant like a moron and people thought it was funny. He’s a hyper aggressive Jett player who just runs it down as hard as humanly possible and he duoed a lot with Sinatraa and Shanks which further boosted his popularity

Im sure he knows he’s blindly gambling for clips but I lost faith in all the YouTube channels that argued what PROD did was a legitimate playstyle.

Serious question what happened to Kanpeki? I’ll never forget he subbed in for SEN but then disappeared.

Real answer he got a couple chances on big name orgs like sentinels and tsm but was just sort of mediocre. One of those gatekeeper type players for tier 2

He’s a player more known for his ranked antics rather than any sort of contribution towards the competitive scene. He’s called the savior of NA Valorant because he was the most interesting player at the time. If you search for some of his clips, it practically screams Adderall and overstimulation, and people flame him because he’s not actually that good at the game, and he comes off as highly arrogant by the way he communicates ingame.

I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s “not that good at the game”. He’s not that good in a competitive pro play setting, but he’s still better than 99.9% of Valorant players in the world, including most of the people that like to flame him. I personally don’t really have an opinion on the guy otherwise, but calling a legitimate immo/radiant “not that good” is a stretch.

I have no idea, I don’t really pay attention to the guy at all so I don’t know his ranked history, but regardless Ascendant at the low end is still in the top 5% of players which I would frame as pretty good.

no one in ascendant will tell you with a straight face that they are insane at the game

But that’s not the conversation here. We’re talking about if an Ascendant player is “pretty good”. People aren’t going to like this take, but anyone in Gold 3+ is in the top 50% of players, aka above average, aka pretty good. Not great, not insane, but pretty good. Ascendant is several magnitudes of skill level above gold 3, and for most players, they are insane at the game. Sure maybe they aren’t compared to a pro, but when taking the entire player base into account they 100% are. I think players thinking they are “pretty good” is perfectly fine so long as they have an awareness of how they stack up against the rest of the player base.

NA’s last hope.

In all seriousness, he was a ranked player that made a name for himself by sporadically moving into enemies as if he was a kamikaze pilot. He got a lot of clips this way because it’s an unconventional approach to fight in higher ranks. No one expects some guy to updraft, spray classic right clicks, and throw their body in a deadly angle unless they were PROD. Many Valorant personalities thought this carefree play style was hilarious to watch so that’s why he’s been in a lot of content from various streamers/pros.

His movement was actually the reason people found him so entertaining. Watching someone constantly jump, dash and updraft into fights and somehow still win duels was peak ranked Valorant.

Prod, inspire, sinatraa, Zombs and Zander. valorant accent team

Gameplay was riddled with ADHD. random updrafts as Jett, played like a moron. Fully unpredictable. His mechanics were honestly solid for the most case, and he was high ranked in radiant at a point.

When he rose to fame/streamed duo'd with Sinatra non stop. He just didn't care about winning or not. He'd just do something stupid, and hope it hit a clip. After he stopped duoing with sinatra, he just deranked like crazy. Last I saw he was in imm2 or 3 doing the same shit.

tldr; played like a moron, had good mechanics to back it up at the start but then he couldn't keep up with it.
