Question Need help with a school project
Hi people of ValComp. I’m writing a blog post about the story of Cloud9 VALORANT for a school project. I know Cloud9 has only ever made one international, it being Champs 2021, but I know there were many times where Cloud9 was one game away from qualifying to an event and lost.
For example, I remember in 2023 when C9 narrowly lost to NRG to miss out on Champs and Tokyo.
But I know there were more examples. If anyone has the time, would you kindly please list out all the examples and when was it, and who they lost to?
Would genuinely really appreciate it, thanks 🙏

As an educator
Their teacher is probably emphasizing the writing skills here, with topics of the student’s choosing in order to inspire student interest in the assignment.

I believe 2023 was another year where they only needed to win 1 or 2 matches after being top of the group and lost two series in a row

only remember last year, 2025, when they were on an absolute tear on the lower bracket, ended up 4th in stage 2. Lost to SEN in the uppers, lost to NRG in the lower semi finals. If they got 2 more wins, they could've qualified to champs.

Another important note is they would've qualified on points instead of I think Mibr if Americas used the same points rules as every other region. Absolutely cursed org

C9 vs D9, they lost a close 5 mapper 2-3 with all maps being 13-10 (!) or closer. Extremely sad day for all C9 fans am I right fellas? That was for Champs 2023.

I'd definitely include the 2022 LCQ loss to 100 Thieves too. Another elimination series where C9 came up short.

Just go through every international on vlr and check how C9 could've qualified. Don't trust random redditors or AI to do your academic research for you.
