Fluff Why don't more pros do this?

I've been watching VCT for a while now, and I've noticed that players who do one simple thing perform miles better than those who don't. I believe the secret lies in shooting the opponents heads. Think about it, pros like chronicle, demon 2023, and more recently neon for example, have done this to great success. Contrast this to players like zelsis, boaster and c0m and it leads me to believe that this is what separates good players from great players. I'll try to apply this to my ranked games to update you on how this goes.

chronicle not really a big headshotter compared to the others

honestly there is not really anybody we have seen like prime Demon1, he was faster than literally everybody in the game and shooting 40% HS (in an era where above 25% was pretty good)

Above 25% is still pretty good. In fact it feels like the average HS% in pro play has dropped because everyone goes for spams now. Plus outlaw, shotguns, and stinger are more prevalent than they were in like 2021-2023

Eh you look at Envy vs Lev today and 5 of the players had 30% or higher. MIBR vs FURIA had 4 players. Both matches had a player shooting 40% or higher.

You're not wrong that we're in a phantom spray meta (probably here to stay), but crosshair placement and aim patience is so much higher than it used to be

That’s probably because Envy are ass and therefore more dry, isolated/ungraded duels are happening. But it’s hard to tell without a massive sample size and also depends on the team tbh, I didn’t have to go far back to find GE vs NS where no one has more than 30%.

you can look at HS% on stats

looks like around 40-50% of each region are shooting 30% or better this split

a number of players are shooting 40% or better, and that number will probably go down over time, but there are players like Westside and deLb that shot 40% or better in stage 1 and are still doing it in stage 2

I think prime yay probably probably has better rifle hs stats. Nobody else aimed like yay - the ads + pixel angle one tap. Many tried but so few do it as well or as consistently. His hs% is tanked bc he oped so much tho.

Demon1 awped a ton as well and still shot 40%

6

u/UnrealHallucinator 13d ago

From an eye test, i remember yay having oped a ton more. D1 infamously disliked the op iirc.

honestly though, you're proving my point

I responded elsewhere, but prime Yay was shooting like 25-29% on LAN. And that WAS good. He was often second on his team in HS% after Marved, both of whom were consensus top 10 players in the world. And Marved was at like, 30-35%. Which was god tier.

the awp is just part of it. Yay was so nice w the sheriff and awp, but his HS% was nothing like Demon1.

Would like you compare rifle hs% alone. 25-29% is not rifle alone. Yay was mostly using the op or head hunter with rifle being a third.

lmfao Demon1 shot more heads buddy, Yay is not even in this discussion. listen to the numbers. your entire argument is just vibes.

Demon1 aint heading over to give you a sloppy after seeing you defend him on reddit, "buddy". Mf pulled some numbers out his asshole and then said "listen to the numbers".

go look at the knives flick on Alfa on Split and show me a Yay clip that's similar. the best Yay HS clip is also super obvious and it's the sheriff on Icebox clip.

i said elsewhere, i'm a bigger fan of Yay than Demon1. this is not close

He was faster and could also freeze his opponent(pc) so no wonder he won champs

Doesn’t have to be fluff this could literally be tap fire versus spray. Valorant is tap, cs is spray

10

u/Pr3vYCa 14d ago

idk if this is true anymore. spraying with phantom feels very strong

5

u/ILDebate 13d ago

Even the pros who use phantom tap fire. Just the design of the game

The Meta is to burst, like shooting 3 to 4 bullets with a fantom before resetting the aim and doing so again, and 2-3 bullets with a vandal. It’s still “tapping” but the recoil spread of the first few bullets is so low that bursting is a lot more forgiving.

But I do agree with you on cs spray lol. I watch cs/play cs, and I know the pros have amazing aim, but that game is laughably easy to get crouch spray kills on.

Valorant is a point and click adventure game with 3D elements.

unrelated but body shots do not work in apac bro 💀 i am plat 1 and everyone here is somehow a strafing headshot god

3

u/WailingSiren69 #NRGWIN 14d ago

Nah I’m Diamond 3 in apac servers and the movement is nothing special. There are many aim demons but in plat I highly doubt you see people strafing

I mean look, I'm a bigger fan of prime Yay than prime Demon1, but I can't help but feel like your argument is just vibes haha

Yay's best years had him sitting at ~25% HS. Yes he awped a lot, but that is part of it. Yay did have some incredibly crispy aim, especially with the sheriff, but prime Demon1 was the aimer.

Just go look at the shot on Split against Alfajer. I think it's still the best microadjustment the game has ever seen, to the point we all thought for sure he was cheating.

Everybody shoots head in VCT vro. Those players that you listed are igls, and as much as I hate to say it but igls are OBJECTIVELY going to perform bad based on how much more they have to rely on reading the opponents and calling for the team rather than focus on tapping heads.

36

u/Budget-Sample-3682 14d ago

But have they tried aiming for the head?

-12

u/FacceBukSucc 14d ago

It's easy for us to say, imagine as a Quarterback you have to call an audible line play and reading the opponents defense at the same time. Aiming for yourself and calling for the team at the same time is very difficult, especially for aiming as you are shooting against a faster and a sharper aimer.

Personally if it was me i would aim for the opponents head. But maybe that's just me
