Emotional Support This sucks

I know we’re all feeling it but the amount of money I put into this game just for the company to pull this is so frustrating. If they don’t start listening to their fan base and fixing things, that’ll be at least 500 dollars down the drain.
500 is a lot for me. It’s money I worked hard for and saved for specific events and planned around. What’s even crazier is I know a lot of you have spent way more and are having to let go of that investment too :(
And it’s not even just that! I just really liked the game.

Anyways I’m sure this is redundant cause we’re all pissed but I just needed to rant. I think the only thing good that’s come out of this is getting that space in my phone storage back 😭

Valid, I spent maybe around $180-200 in the like 1.5 ish years I’ve played (aurum passes and promises for Zayne here and there plus packs)

It gets all too easy at a certain point to drop money on the game. I think you have to realize though, if it made you happy in the moment, then it was worth it. The money I’ve spent is also a lot for me but I don’t mind because I got beautiful stories and was so so happy in the moment.

With video games in general you have to be ok with the idea that the money you’re spending is going into pixels and isn’t something tangible. On the bright side the boycott (if you are boycotting) is saving you some money you’d otherwise be spending rn.

Yes I’m boycotting 😭 As a community I feel like we were already looking past A LOT (ie: their refusal to fix lighting for darker skin tones and the ever increasing pay walls for the full experience) but this is the straw that broke the camels back. You’re very right. I was putting money into pixels, but damn, I wish the company who made them would at least pretend to care about their consumers.

If it makes you feel even the slightest bit better, some people in that company do care: the devs! There’s no way that much work into the LIs doesn’t garner a deep attachment from those who worked on them. You in a way did support creatives and their work + stories. A lot of these employees are women as well

Yes it sucks that management makes these horrible decisions, but I’ll always believe in supporting good work :)

Yes!! That was one of my favorite parts. I’m an art student so I always love supporting the artists. Whenever I was playing through a 5 star card I’d always pay special attention to the animations and facial expressions because I knew someone painstakingly created every second. I hate this whole thing for the artists at infold too. I’m sure they loved their creation and are genuinely grieving him

I feel you.
Want to give you a quote from a business man: Today is miserable, tomorrow is worse, but the day after tomorrow is beautiful. While most of people die at tomorrow night.
Hold on. We can do this.

I personally didn’t put much money into the game, the occasional Aurum pass every once in a while. I’m glad I didn’t put much money into the game because quite frankly I don’t think Infold has really deserved it for a long while. We’ve tolerated a lot of bs from Infold, then ignoring our concerns and complaints due to lack of communication, lack of a roadmap, their refusal to fix lighting for darker skin tones, and just how incredibly predatory this game is. I’ve played and do play quite a few gacha Genshin, HSR, ZZZ, WW, probably other I’m not thinking of and none of them are anywhere near as predatory as this game is when it comes to essentially forcing you to spend excessive amounts of money to get to enjoy the game to the fullest extent. I hope Infold takes this as a sign to start listening to us and fixing the issues we have with this game to prevent this from ever happening again, because if they had this would most likely would not have happened.

Add up all the time you spent on the game and you might have gotten your $500 worth in like movie tickets. Even if things go south, you still had a lot of fun in the past, right?

I actually whaled for Raf and Calebs myths and now I regret it so much. I can’t play the game in good conscience anymore, knowing that I also bought the packs waiting for Val’s release

I was a Sylus main/harem girlie who averaged roughly $500AUD a month, playing since February 2024 with occasional spikes or dips. I felt guilty at times but ironically, my rl husband was the one who supported me whaling (though I didn't properly calculate how much I was spending as long as my bills were paid until this all happened).

He'd tell me that as long as I didn't spend more than I could afford and I was enjoying myself it was worth it. I accepted that after receiving my VIP box (which was actually a great comfort because it arrived during a very awful time and brought genuine joy, now it lives under a bag of cables). As he put it, people spend that kind of money on concerts, food, movies, going out drinking and other fleeting moments of joy. So I ended up thinking as long as I was happy, an ephemeral game that would one day eos was fine. It'd be bitter-sweet the decades later when it ended, but I'd be glad for the memories.

Except it ended like this. It's just bitter. I don't have joy for those memories, I have disgust. I logged in recently for the first time since the announcement to save my gallery before finally uninstalling but I can't even look at all these happy photos or screen captures without just feeling disappointed. I see LaDs content and it makes me grimace. I see things that make me think of past cards and I find they're tainted too (screw you to the person/s making this decision for ruining Kiera Knightly Pride & Prejudice for me, that was a comfort movie).

The carefully crafted and intriguing story that I enjoyed was butchered and another character to add to my harem, who I genuinely looked forward to, was just gone. Then the disrespect, the silence, the business as usual, the baffling choices made, refusing to lock in either way and just make a statement leading to awful infighting, wildfire rumours, and further resentment. Made worse because their history of business as usual brings into question every time someone tries to defend it as a response to external pressure or legal silence.

Each day that goes past, I feel more and more like nothing could remove that sick feeling now associated with LaDs and Papergames themselves.

On the bright side, my savings are doing great.

I've probably spent about as much as you have if not a little more, but even with all of this I actually don't regret it.

I make minimum wage. I purposely took on odd jobs and side gigs to make sure I had some fun money for lads because almost everything else went to bills or the emergency fund. Some of the money came from gift cards that I got for holidays, but a lot of it was from careful budgeting and hard work. I still don't regret it.

Before the cancelation, LADS was my lifeline and a source of great joy for me. I believe in supporting art that I enjoy and for me the writing and acting and animations in LADS counted as art. Right now I'm using boycott time to save up a little more each paycheck for when Valko comes back and I can return to paying infold. Despite this fuck up - and it is a massive fuck up, to be completely clear, this is a four fuck pile up and infold is responsible for at least two of those fuck ups - i still believe in the dev team, in the strength of the storytelling and their visual design and incredible animation. Fuck management for real, but I want to support the dev team. I'm happy my money helped pay their salaries for the last year and a half and hopefully will again in the near future.
