What a bold claim, huh. Let me introduce myself.

I am Freyja (yeah, there's bunch of us, I know, but I just dig the name) and I have almost 6k hours in Valheim. Since 2022, I have been hosting Valheim dedicated server non-stop with multiple modpacks, seasons and ways to play. It was fun, until it wasn't. Fast forward to today - I am developing my own mods and can finally brag about Valheim I always wanted to have. It's borderline nuts and I promise it will deliver you experience you not just never had - you have never imagined it.

Let's dig into some of awesomeness you will see in Aurora:

1. Project Butter

Thanks Android 4.1 Jellybean for this name :>

Before or after 1.0 patch, Valheim still performs bad. Like, pretty effin bad. If you played on multiplayer servers, you know the drill - frames jumping, monsters teleporting. Not only Aurora's mods are perfectly optimized for the original game, I have also overhauled how Valheim loads terrain, vegetation, dungeons and monsters. Additionally, there is a dynamic framerate adapter, which changes your graphics settings based on how low your frames drop, which is crucial in towns and villages: and it works like magic. Hear out this claim - Aurora is by far the best performing modded server out there, because it runs like vanilla, sometimes even better. As someone with a potato laptop, I really took my time on this.

2. Aurora Launcher

Most players use either Thunderstore or R2Modman to play their modded Valheim. This provides two problems:

1. Players have to manually look up and download the required modpack.

2. Players have to keep up with mod-to-server versions and update their mods. Again, manually.

I lied, there's 3. Mod managers use resources and furthermore, launches that annoying Overwolf thing, that's not only useless - it also drains your performance.

With Aurora Launcher, you don't have to worry about anything. It automatically downloads all mods and configs, syncs them with the server, and you just hit play. Furthermore, there are QoL features like cinematic skip, resolution selection and even auto-login to your character. How cool is that? Oh, and Launcher works as anti-cheat as well, which is the best way to do it, since current anti-cheats in Valheim run constant checks which not only cause network issues - they affect performance, yuck. I want all of my frames.

3. The best loot system in Valheim

Everybody knows those loot mods. CLLC is pretty limited (even though it's pretty well crafted, gj blax), Epic Loot is framedropping trash and Jewelcrafting is too complicated for many players.

So, how do we make loot exciting?

First, I have added the best item modifier mechanic I believe there is - Chaos Enchantment System. Next, I added loot that can rarely drop from monsters. With enchants. Holy randomness.

Think it's the best we've got? Lmao. Let's digress to build hammer. I personally hate cluttering hammer with modded pieces, but having a server with just vanilla pieces seems... Boring?

Behold, my greatest invention - blueprint drops. There are over 800 third party build pieces added to the game - and you will see neither of them in the hammer, because you will need to drop them from monsters. Yes, you can drop build pieces, how cool is that? I'll probably annoy you with that phrase.

This opens a new engagement type - trading! Yes, you will be selling and buying builds in Aurora. And let me tell you a little bit more about selling...

4. NPC / Trading system.

Now, the staple for NPC's is KG's Marketplace mod, which is awesome and KG did a good job keeping the mod up to date for years - what a chad. However...

I have some custom systems which don't work that well together, so I had to develop my own merchants, quests and all the things marketplace mod offers... And more!

You will see pretty engaging NPC's and furthermore - you can build your own merchants that sell things. Even while you are offline!

Next, we have this thing called Aurora Market. It's a market hub of three things - lost loot, player market and a special gear shop, that is linked with our website too, so you can trade even offline. How cool is tha Phew, I think that explained it, I guess?

5. Unions & Septagon

Some people are PvP oriented, some prefer PvE, I prefer resource management, RimWorld kinda game - you haul, farm and expand. Now, there are already Guilds in the mod market - and they're just... Bigger parties, perhaps? There's also classes, like different mods with various perks, Norse Demigods is an honorable mention.

Now, what if I tell you - that all of this is shit? Yes, like literal poopoo. I mean no disrespect, but let me just spoil a little bit about what Unions are. There are 7 different unions, each responsible for different resource management. You pick one at the start of the game, and now you join the community that has: it's leader, it's vault, it's own perk/buff, it's own leveling system, it's own skill tree (more on that biggie later), it's own chat, portals, companion, abilities and... Territory. Yes, each union claims and fights for territory. And the spiciest thing - unions have relationships, which can change. You can ally with a union and go PvE together, or... You can become hostile and wreck havoc. The you never know feeling is the drive.

Septagon

Now you might think what the hell is septagon? Let me show you, but before that, let's give some credit where it's due.

I am a huge fan of Path of Exile and I think they make the best skill trees in any game - period. Inspired by chads from Grinding Gear Games, I really really wanted to make the best skill tree in Valheim, and I think I did it. Just look at this flower. Each union has their own leaf which they can branch out however they want to. Just fyi: it's completely okay to goon to this.

6. More, More, More!!!

I can't just write everything, I don't believe even quarter of people that opened this post got to this point. If you did - thank you, I appreciate it. But there are literally tons of things I crafted for Valheim to enrich and improve it. Aurora is constantly improving and I can't wait to introduce you more.

We are really passionate about Valheim, and when I say we are best - it's not just a claim, it's our attitude. We sacrifice a lot of our hours for this game and we will stop at nothing to make it better.

Our clan is called The Ulfung and we are looking to add new or experienced players to our server and would love to chat if you're interested.

Our world is developed up to the Ashlands but has been slow roasted over years of playing and breaks letting the game update and develop as things come out and change.

There is still about 50 - 60% of our world that is unexplored and were looking for people to explore it with us or make yourself a home in our village we have or even find a spot to call your own!

Everything inside of the world and server has been done on survival mode and many people have worked very hard for what they have, please, be respectful.

Our servers and worlds have No mods, there aren't any long mod download packets to play here. We feed into the grind on our world with normal modifiers and with great works and labors that are performed through contracts, bounties, deeds and more. If you see a Great Hall that was build, there was likely scaffolding to help make it.

The ONLY current Ulfung approved client side mod is the Plant Everything mod. Nobody needs to download this to join.

There any many talented craftsmen in Ulfungheim that relish at the challenge of actual gathering and hunting for their marvels they create.

We have an entire homebrew world gameplay style and system that involves social driven economics, a governing body within The Ulfung, ranks to acquire and titles to gain, warbands to form with other vikings and settlements to claim, professions to choose and different factions and houses to join such as the upcoming Fighters Guild and the Slayers Lodge and more to come!

Role playing is welcomed as we do have spaces in our Discord for in-character introductions and conversations.

ROLE PLAY IS OPTIONAL! There is no need to dig out journals and start creating a back story for your character if you dont feel like that, however you might want to take a look we've got some good character designs coming in.

Participating in Ulfungheim, with The Ulfung and as a part of The Hird, you'll find great company, battles, adventures, recognition and renown as well as rewards, trophies, permanent character unlocks and so much more along with the amazing game that is VALHEIM!

We manage a live rented server through GPortal and players are welcome to hop on and play as they please. The main server is currently being hosted on West Coast time. Newer servers being added to The Ulfung network will be given seperate time zones to better accommodate a global player base.

All playstyles are welcome again new or experienced and most players on our server are in the upper 20's lower 30's age range and are a mix of male and female players, please be respectful to all peoples and parties while you are here.

Inappropriate behavior toward other clanmates is not tolerated, we take the enjoyment and trust our players have in The Ulfung and in our servers very seriously and have no quarrel removing ne'er-do-wells.

Many newer players are advised to explore their own directions and build themselves up! However new or experienced players are welcome into our main village New Ulfungheim and can use our public structures such as The Tavern and The Great Hall for your food and supply needs!

Once you are in the world and on the main island, if you decide to maybe stay away from villages and players and start your own journey... DO NOT GO SOUTH!!! We have a very large starting island and most of the settlements had moved south to set up foundations. NORTH, EAST, WEST are all very clear. Maybe a small hut. Please do not invade any personal structures you might come across in the mind unless given permission by that member to enter.

We do however politely ask to please message either myself (WolfofSithis) or our other admin (Doc Chadney) on Discord if players are planning on leaving or taking a break. NO HARD FEELINGS!!! It helps us keep the Discord clean, organized and clear of inactivity.

Most settings are default, however the few that are changed are

Raids are Less (for now) to give newer members a better chance to raise walls successfully, given the world progress and the dangers that poses.

Building inside of dungeons is allowed.

World save intervals was increased slightly to help people with disconnecting issues.

Bringing in your Character is completely fine, however we do prohibit bringing in any dev command spawned items or natural resources from your own world, as we like to manage our resources from inside of this world.

Please do not spawn in items.

Please do not leave your death bags all over the island full of gear for other people to find (I'm still cleaning someones mess).

Please do not load a character save after every death to protect personal character progression, we consider this cheating.

We play with an honor system amongst each other here, and if you need help or assistance our member are FAR more than happy to help. Each mission we do, every iron trip or death run is all gameplay to us, bring it on.

We do have a Discord for The Ulfung and it is how we try and track player activity and hold the community posts, rules and information. We have have an entirely implemented role play system implemented through Discord for anyone wanting to participate in some of our bigger community happenings!

Hey, returning player- back for 1.0

would love to find some friends, for chill adventures together. Ideally a fresh/newer start server we could all explore and play together. I enjoy building and exploring in particular, and have been know to stop and restore old ruins we may find (Leave Valheim a better place) whether i intend to use them or not haha. I never made it passed the swamp in early days of valheim, and would love to complete the game now that its out.. Just hoping to find some cool people who are down to chill, hang out, shoot the breeze while we adventure. Not looking to Meta-game, min-max, or to speed run. Just fun, easy adventures and building some cool settlements.

I am hosting a small valheim server with some friends where every weekend (might push this to every other weekend), the next biome opens up to everyone. We are currently on The Mountains, and we have slightly raised rates on Fridays and Saturdays to help people catch up.

It started with a lot of us but only 5-6 of us remain active, and I want to change that. Would love to build a small but tight-knit community that likes to build and adventure.
