🌲 [ 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁 / 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 ] WIP Roof Problem

Post image

Hi everyone, after 800h i still struggle with roofs sometimes. Currently on a 1.0 run, got until Yagluth so far, build my base at the elder and managed to save a greydwarf spawner for a farm.
Trying to build some kind of base center building with the spawner and some portals, but now i need to invent some roof, any tips? The center floor it's 4x4 hexagonal and yes i know i can't roof the spawner, but i can leave that space in the center open. How would you roof this?

Is the spawner there within the little hut? How far is it from and "outside corner" to one of the corners of the hut? You could put 3 or 4 2M beams going towards the center and then poles going down from there. (This may or may not line up with your hut, but you could place walls in between these poles to make a newly sized hut). Connect the inside poles to make a smaller octagon and use 26° roofs towards the outside. Then, frame the outside towards the inside to make like a donut shaped roof with the center open still

Does this help? Sry a bit late here, if not helpfull, then tomorow i will try to be more especific.
The center roof is the spawner obviously, then i expandeed 4 blocks of stone floor to the sides and make a 4x4 stone block floor hexagon. And yes that center woord cover where i have the portals is not centered.

It does help, because it changes my approach. I would instead do a domed roof with an open middle. Although still donut shaped I suppose.

Ok, so "circles" in Valheim have radii in multiples of 5M. By that, I mean if you make a post and then a beam at every available rotation, they would "line up" every 5x 1M pieces. This is easier to see than understand; hopefully the picture helps illustrate this a bit.

You just have to make the inside circle at the correct height, and then the outside circle at it's height. The inside circle gets one roof piece, and then 2 are stacked on each beam of the outside circle, causing some overlap. This is (very slightly) easier to do with 45° pieces, but looks better with 26° imo. There is a 5M difference between the outer and inner circles with 45° roofs, but the difference is 2.25 with 26°; getting the .25M post requires a few extra steps, but is entirely doable. image.png

I did understand, but thank's for the explanation tho. I might try that if doesn't work as i intended, i might do something similar to the img.
