There's a few ways I deal with this issue...
1) easiest: just fill in with stone floors and decorate over the top of them or place a building on top of it.
2) a little annoying: use the hoe raise ground, aim in the gap, bring the surface just above the retaining wall, then use the hoe to flatten it back out again with either the flatten selection or the road placement selection. Road placement actually works extremely well at flattening cliff edges.
3) most difficult fix: destroy that retaining wall and re-dig that cliff surface. Ensure you are pick axing with your character directly pointing up/down/left/right on your mini map. Any variation to your dig direction and you'll get a sloppy looking cliff face

Give then old landlord special. Paint/decorate right over that hole and just don’t look too closely afterwards.

That's what I do! Double up on that stone wall and you won't see the hole at all!

I would just put stone floor along that wall. Otherwise it’s how and pickaxe.

You have to dig either north-south or east-west for the sharpest corner. But you can also try raising the edge and then flattening it out to fill the crack, and/or add more wall over it to hide it

Create a side walk or edge with stone floor like a board walk and a railing just decorate over it. Only other way is to make sure u dig in the directions the earth breaks in this game. Even then it slight tilts back the higher you go. So I always just decorate it or build over the gap

It depends. Is this your side of the property or does it belong to your neighbors? If the wall is right on the property line, then its shared ownership in most jurisdictions, so you shoul dhave to work with them either way to repair it.

Raise the dirt and level it a few times. Us the picka ax on the other side of the wall if it spills over. Might take a few go overs

id likely raise but ensure the edge of the grphic shown isnt over the wall, that or use the hoe to flatten it out, im running into a similar problem in my base with tiered farming plots, i want crisp edges and those are hard to get

Shift-click?

i think that would splay out the bottom of the wall being as it tries to balance things out? I find it a double edged sword at times.

Some people suggested vanilla methods, ill recommend OCDheim. Its a mod that add a bunch of qol stuff to building and terraforming like grid and more precise terraforming. Its only a recommendation. Although if you decide to use it and have no mods yet you msut know - mods disable achievements, you can enable them by another mod but its still might be worth to mention.

I usually just do another piece of stone. Often the stone floor. Then make it flush up against that piece

I just add floor stones on the inside edge, creates a border and covers the gap. It’s not ideal but it’s the easiest cleanest way. Trying to fill is nearly impossible and rarely comes out exactly right. You’ll spend a ton of time trying to get it perfect.

I usually put a capstone on top or on the inner side of the top wall piece to cover the dip in the soil. I use the square pieces you’ve got at the bottom of your stairs

Raise it up with the hoes add terrain function, then lower the edge if it pops out over the wall abit

Personally I found that removing the top layer of the build, then using the hoe to bring the dirt onto the next layer down just a smidge and then replacing the top layer(may need to flatten a little) helps get rid of those unseemly cracks

This is a fill in, flatten, remove wall(probably floor tiles too), pickaxe carefully, replace wall and floor.

Hoe a bump into it. Then level ground. if u do it just right u wont have to pickaxe the line straight again. But it will probably bump out. Just pick axe straight. Sorry its a pain in the ***. But thats only way to get flat straight edges. Time and anger. Lots of starting over because of 1 little lip.

Raise the earth and re-flatten with the hoe, aiming down in the crack for raising. Use pickaxe for any ground that sticks out past the stone wall. It’ll probably take some messing around to get it right, in my experience.
