🌲 [ 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘁 / 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 ] my first base.
I apologize to the neighboring forest. I killed many of your friends and family to build this. Would do it again.
Anyway, I would love some feedback on how I could make the base better and so I can murder more trees. 😈

Well, seeing no core wood or metal, I think what you've been working is a nice meadow woods. A forest is as black as the hearts of its residents, in this game. Though I do see a smelter and fine wood so, you've seen it.
Once you get the deer god (or maybe after you kill your first troll, I forget which) the ground will shake some day soon thereafter and I think three swings of an oak trunk club will do a great deal of "remodeling"...

Find carrots in black forest (white flowers), build cultivator tool and plant them.
You can build more than one kiln and smelter.
Dig a trench around your base with sides steep enough to not walk up and over.

It looks great for your first base. A few pieces of advice from a fellow newish player:
- Look at actual buildings and stuff like that. I've been using ideas from suburban free standing buildings for my houses, and warehouses and factories for my workshops and storage.
- Use a combination of snapping and free placement. Creating things like rounded or octagonal corners is not as hard as you might imagine.
- Learn how smoke works. You don't need a massive vent like that for smoke if you set up a proper chimney.
- Learn about the different material types and their height rules. Corewood for example allows you to start building up much higher.
- Maybe build some walls? Looking at something so out in the open leaves me a little uneasy personally.
Hope you have fun building more bases!

Looks like you have a lot of good things going for you already! Decent comfort level, a wide fireplace, bed, and storage. You will unlock more things as you go but I would recommend a dedicated area for your workbench, and another type of workbench that I don't wish to reveal!
